VALL2012 well stated. It is only a greedy hipocrit that can so easily become traitor to his own so-called specialty such as Toope. Sorry, I cannot call him mister as that would be a sign of respect. Shark open to highest bidder with no morals.

That's is the problem, when you reach a certain status level you become to think you are above the law.

Your Dam right money can buy anything!!!!

NO DAMAGES UNACCEPTABLE

Many VETS here seem to think they got damages because after Interests and or a "BONUS"

They never had to pay legal fees out of pocket and well a save on taxes with a higher percentage of interest then others.

But that good enough for them sign the deal and leave the rest of the VETS behind.

But if the shoe was one the other foot and the cut off date was say 2000- 2006 with damages they be hysterical.

Bravo Zulu Val2012.
Now the best that we can do for ourselves and our loved ones is accept what is and what can't be changed and continue to pick and chose our battles as we all do individually day to day in our lives and within our pain. We are soldiers after all.

I have followed this case since the beginning, offered my help to MC to highlight the claw back effects that this thing had on us. Visual graphic and all. In fact the more we were affected the less we got… And I talked to Peter on the importance of having damage more than once.

Everybody who exchanged in this blog did help, from comments in this forum and from advice or personal experience and even from frustration etc.

The most difficult think for me was damage. When you tell a member, he does not anymore fit the universal service criteria and cannot continue to serve after 20 year of service,( the Gulf war 1991, enduring freedom and the entire mission for United Nation… and sent him on SISIP), it becomes a lost battle for a career.

You leave with some unforgettable leftovers and problems that will affect him, his wife and kids for the rest of there life.
When, on top of that, you claw back money from his VAC pension, it’s became discrimination – Like it is written on black and white on the class action lawsuit set by MC.
On several of my personal exchanges with MC, I did highlight that fact that damage was imperative. But because the settlement was underway, damage could be negotiated – Mr Toope, being a ‘supposed’ specialist on human right, made shure that DND was off the hook – I think compassion is not on Mr Toope agenda when you serve DND at high price (I hope one day will know how much your were paid from public money to screw with veteran).

But for all of us, still stuck with the problems of anxiety, depression and physical hardship, the life is quite unpredictable and is not the same has yours, Mr Toope with your VIP treatment. We endure, take our good dams meds everyday…and sometimes suffered consequential problems, like a heart attack or else often link to our existing condition.

But, what is more obvious, is that hardship and unpredictable health issue that will continue to arise for each of us, no matter how this settlement has concluded. For me, this lawsuit got me more involve emotionally that I taught I would be, it did distress me.
I don’t intent to write Honorable Judge Barnes or delay this settlement more than it takes. I will accept what was negotiated with all the stops that have been put forward by you and your team. No letter for legal fees or any request for review– No Nothing – I don’t care anymore. But I will never forget the scare left over.
As for you Mr Toope – I must pay tribute to you – A very thorough Wikipedia website highlighting the fact that you are ‘A scholar specializing in human rights’. Well human right is quite relative. You’re so known in this specialty, known as a lawyer and known as a conciliar that when you got hired by the defendant you forgot all your principles.

You will always get these high privileges offers of being called by large organization like GOC or DND and feel important and privileged to be council. But conciliatory you will do for the biggest payer – It this particular case you betrayed your own specialty, value and principles. With your specialty in human right, law and dean of UBC – Nice title – You made shure that your subtle legal maneuvers had ensure the defendants would get away without paying damages for human right violation. Although you knew were legitimates claims in the original claim.

Further, you never considered veterans, in your dealing with MC, but you did impress MC...., they were all glad to deal with you, you are so popular that they even respected your view as you where betraying us slowly and everyday during the negotiation of this settlement.

But in this endeavor, you forgot the origin and effect of our disabilities, our states of mind, our current distress, and potential upcoming ones.

Anyway –Mr. Toope you acceptation to undertake this mission for DND and GOC is, according to my own opinion, synonym of having disregarded your own personal values and ethics. What you used to stand for.... according to your Wikipedia website.....

You see Mr Toope - Money can buy anything.

Have a nice life.
