SISIP contract ceases at 65 Empty Re: SISIP contract ceases at 65

Post by pinger Mon 28 Apr 2014, 17:15

Hey for what it's worth, I recall getting a statement {requested one?) years ago of exactly what my monthly CPP income would be. Not sure if the amount was only for that given point in time, and/or if it depletes over time. But as we know, being approved for CPP(D) is a safety net come 65. Too many if's and maybe's so I'm going to CPP land tomorrow morning to get the straight shyte from the horse's mouth. pinger.

Rock the Hill.

I was medically released in summer 1996 so I only get SISIP till 65. I think that SUCKS big time. I signed the same contract and paid the same fees and yet those out medically before the magic date in 95, get if for life. I don't see how the gov could have changed it for those of us that had been paying all those years. I can see bringing in something new from new members but not for existing members. Sucks and is not fair, imo.

As far as CPP(D) goes, it will cease at age 65 and then convert to whatever they determined you will receive at that age. But if you don't get CPP(D) and then don't actually work for 20 or so years before age 65, your monthly benefit won't be much.

I guess, that is the rub of it. I have half of the amount, but not the whole thing, at least, until the end of May.

actually Rex your SIN number is your account number. Just call up CRA on your banking bill site and enter your SIN.

I have been getting some very conflicting info from CRA agents about processing, paying, will there be interest applied or not. All of it is just confusing shyte!!

But the one constant has always been pay before 5 May and if you get a refund you will be reimbursed.

The Heartbleed virus really put the blocks to CRA this year. People are paper filing as they do not trust the CRA website anymore. So there is a large pile of tax returns CRA has to go thru.

That said, and this is my opinion and my opinion only, if you have the money just pay to get rid of the headache and pain in the arse! I don't like it that I have to drop a large chunk of money into CRA's bank but I also don't like having to pay interest.

Yes, but in the notice of assessment, CRA should provide you with an account number, so that you can pay online. Most years, I would agree with you, but because of the 1198 form, the actual balance owing or return, is completely dependent on those calculations.

If I may add as well, (as most know I will anyhow) I had my family physician do his part and I had my Shrink (whom by the way is also a MD and psychiatrist) fill out his info, when both where completed they contacted me and I physically picked up each package, I went to Service Canada and had the Clerk Stamp every piece of attached material and log it on a separate index page. Once she did this I sent send in both parts of the info so basically it was two applications and all my own personal medical (copies) info with all my VAC entitlements, benefits, you name it contents attached, signed and dated at the local Canada Post Office, I ensured it was going to sent with the proper post so after it left my hands it was no longer anything I could control. It was along and arduous process but I was accepted CPPD my first go around. Having said that if it was not for the very same insightful information from my boy Recon I would have faltered big time. The biggest lesson when applying troops be detailed and leave no dot or no t dotted or crossed. My letter that accompanied my application was over 12 pages long and and coincided with the treatment received, receiving and going to receive. Keep a copy of everything you send, create a log book, with dated times client representative id numbers phone numbers and last of all get a scanner, wireless works well and scan your own documents and store them in a file for each application process you go through. CPPD, DTC, VAC Travel Claims, SISIP/Manulife LTD and appointment matrix files CYA, COVER YOUR ASS troops no one else will.

Good Day Troops ,

To add to your comments Ron " Teentitan "

I've gone through the whole process of CPPD twice now in 2008 & backdating it to 2002 , and again in 2012 to RE-APPLY a second time & that's when they said it was good for all years to come .

YES..... your family physician has to do the final sign off and comment on your " Condition " as well ..... only then will they " ACCEPT IT "

For myself .... I included all essential reports from my Psycologist , as well , A COPY of LETTERS from VAC pertaining
to all your INJURIES , and FINALLY , ALL MEDICAL DOC's showing PROOF of INJURIES and PTSD .

Be Certain to WRITE a Detailed cover Page requesting CPPD and The Laundry list of REASONS WHY .

When it comes to a CPPD application your family physician puts all the paperwork together from the specialists you see, in your case a psychologist.

CPPD does recognise OSI so have your psychologist write a report and have your family doctor submit it, with all other related info

OK I have been researching the Service Canada site for CPPD info. The forms they mention only deal with medical physicians. I am under care of a psychologist and have been accepted for Disability Tax credit and all the VA benefits. Those forms all had definitions of who is a qualified person to fill out the medical reports. The only thing I see a medical doc for is to get my prescriptions renewed she has not been involved in the treatment or diagnosis at all. So is my psychologist qualified to fill out the medical form. Who really cares what my height and weight are. They seem to gear it towards people with physical injuries not OSI.

Nav, that is one of the recommendations from the OVO, that were being discussed during the recent committee hearings. That and increasing the benefit to 90% of pre-tax, or 100% after tax amounts based on current pay rates of serving members of the same rank and trade. Now that the report has been written, it is only a waiting game to see if the government actually acts on anything, after all, most of these same recommendations were made ina report from the committee in 2010, and nothing was done about them. It may be different this time, now that the Tories are reporting a near surplus going into an election year.

Hello Teentitan, yes, forgot to mention, if you released
before the Policy changed from life to 65 on January 1st 1995, then you have Sisip for life. All those out after that date receive Sisip till 65.
