Hi all,
Was going to clarify that 2%. Thanks propat. It's called the Supplementary Retirement Benefit, not to be scoffed at but being approved for CPP'd can have a better financial impact when you hit 65.
(applyapplyapply) Anyone here actually experienced either at 65?

" She reiterated that it is all very confusing even for them the CM with all these different programs and individual case scenario's. I do appreciate that CM is being " ....
Tx for the levity Digger, I'm splitting a rib lmao... " it is all very confusing " ? That's gotta be the understatement of the year and would become Fantino to a tee.
Not to take away from some cm's, some are genuinely pro-vet. VAC probably gets rid of them in short order though... fair winds. pinger.

2.2.2 Supplementary Retirement Benefit (Sections 25–26)

Because veterans in receipt of the earnings loss benefit are not permitted to make contributions to a pension plan, the supplementary retirement benefit was established to make up for the difficulty veterans with a total and permanent incapacity have saving money.

The benefit is equal to 2% of the total amount of the earnings loss benefit for which the veteran was eligible during the entire time he or she was eligible (2% × 75% of gross income at the time of discharge multiplied by the number of months of eligibility prior to reaching the age of 65 years). The average benefit is estimated to be approximately $17,000, and the maximum benefit can be almost $40,000.8 The benefit is transferred to the spouse or survivors on the veteran’s death, is paid in a lump sum on what is or would have been the veteran’s 65th birthday and is taxable.

Since most veterans enrolled in a rehabilitation program are under the age of 50, it will be another few years before this benefit can be evaluated. By 31 December 2009, only one veteran had received it, for a total expenditure of $3,000.

here is the policy

ive read the SISIP LTD policy more than a few times but for other reasons so I don't know for sure but I never seen this in the policy, again not saying it isn't their just never seen it. as for ELB its there but would only be paid to those on ELB.

hope this helps

yes ELB pays the 2% at 65 to make up for you not being able to contribute to a pension plan.

digger you only need to be accepted for the rehab program to get ELB , NOT VOC REHAB.

I applied for and received ELB PIA AND SUPPLEMENT while on CPPD. to start I was accepted for the rehab program ,NOT VOC REHAB . then a rehab plan was developed , seeing doctors, doing therapy  and such but no voc rehab that is for those that can still work. others I know on CPPD have done the same. the legislation states you need to be accepted for the REHAB program to apply for ELB not VOC rehab. if someone is telling you different they are DEAD WRONG.

always question authority
