Increased Disability Award & Retro - Page 3 Empty Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro

Unfortunately, they paid lump any award less than 5% at a significantly lower rate. A 1% award in 2006 was only $654, 2% was $1308, 3% was $1963, and 4% was $2617. Yet 5% jumped up almost $10000, to $12500. So what I think happened, is that you were paid the lump sums awards completely separately, at 1%, and 2% awards twice , instead of paying that third award at the cumulative 5% rate. But when they calculated the top up, they looked at what you should have been paid at 5%, compared to the new rates, and not what had actually been paid out. So I would request a complete review of your file, and they will see that, at 5% under the NVC, you should have been paid far more than just $5000, plus the top up.

This has drastically changed as of this month, because now awards less than 5% are paid exactly at that percentage of the maximum award. So 1% is paid at $3600.

We would need to know what years? And the amount and percentage for each year.

Chillier

Call them again and ask them to red flag your file for action. It'll get the ball rolling.

5% in 2011 would be $1,989 retro.

So you are close enough.

still nothing for me.
I asked last week again, and while she was looking into it, muttered something to herself about "cancelled". then she said i'll be right back, i need to check something.

when she got back on the phone, she said there was an issue but my retro was just being finalized and i should get the letter next week.

on a side note, she said another claim was also being finalized, so i should get letters for both this week

Anyone still not get their letter? I figure mine is held up because I had a new disability approved on March 29th and it has to be calculated as part of the top-up. Seems crazy that they didn't just wait a couple days until the new amaount was in play...

Funny to hear all the different reasons given by vac as to why the delay for some... when I asked they told me they were only releasing 8500 a day. The next day I called back and they couldn't understand why I hadn't received it.

Is it just me? Or has vac taken an even bigger nose dive since the liberals took power.

I'm still waiting to chillier. Called VAC Thursday, and they red flagged my file for quicker processing.
