Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
ha ha yup but what .
the lawsuit with a poorly framed case with low reaching arguments .
should it have been framed in the form of an equality case ie; equal to prior vets and RCMP not civies ?
should the arguments have been based on the difference between buyout vs PA pension with a goal to return the PA pension to replace the buyout?
look at their arguments.
can you see moral obligation wording eliminating one ?
can you see the changes to PIA including the name minimising one ?
can ya see the increase to the buyout eliminating the dumbest one of all?
can this be the smartest and cheapest way to step on the throat of the lawsuit itself before they even spend another day in court ?
yup their is always a motive.
always question authority.

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
They're waiting till 2017 because they really don't have the money. Do you really think any entity is there in place for the Veterans or people of Canada? Please, there's always a motive. Trust no one.

Anyone believe that they put the new increase over to 1April 2017 because they might bring the Pension in and give everyone a choice? Just seems odd they would wait until next fiscal year to begin payments.

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
well not actually bud the initial amount was at 250,000 but after that it went up by COLA . the 360,000 amount for 2017 was just an amount they pulled out of their buts like the 250,000 amount so its a well rounded number .

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
But how the $53,472.99 amount? That would be a maximum amount of $267,364.95 and I think that the maximum amount has always been a round number like $360,000 for 2017.

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
hey ya that is an odd number you would figure 53,400 even would make more sense . do they add interest from the time of your acceptance till the time they pay you???

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
I received 20% , $53,472.99 , so according to what is being said here I should get $72,000 - $53,472.99 = $18,500 approximately. Not sure how I got this 20% amount when the maximum amount is a round number for example , at the time I received this amount , it was $267,000. I believe there was no retro for lump sum payments.
