Application Wait Times Empty Re: Application Wait Times

Post by Guest Tue 06 Sep 2016, 21:39

6 March 2016 and still waiting.

Gave VAC a that a boy on my late ELB application, but not this time. Why do they send out a 16 week notice in the first place.

If it's approved then I forgive them with interest please.

Anyone around here want to bet their life on 16 weeks? Let that slide as best you can.

It can be a very very long, hard, fracking road for some of us.
Maybe you get lucky though. In the meantime.... stay safe.

It's because that is the number they flaunt for the public, knowing that there is no way for them to check the facts. Even if one , or a few Veterans came forward publicly, to say that they had to wait well beyond the 16 weeks, VAC can always come back and say that those fell within that 20% margin.

I've said that the service standards are nothing but smoke a mirror tricks. Like the "reduced" wait times for decisions that the Tories brought in. Instead of 24 weeks from first contact with VAC, to get a decision, they changed it to 16 weeks, but the clock only starts once your file is sent to Charlottetown. So it can sit in a DO for several months, saying that they are waiting for a report from a specialist, or to see if your condition stabilizes following surgery, or just by dropping the ball, before it is sent off, and there is absolutely nothing we can do or say about it, because there is no set time limit for sending the paperwork up the chain.

I found calling to red flag the application sped things up.

VAC Is way behind on processing applications.   They told me a few days ago they are reviewing January 2016 apps.  I am 32 weeks now waiting for a decision.  bruce72, you are correct as new staff needs to be hired, trained and physically put into positions.

I suppose in all fairness we have to cut them a little slack to hire and train new staff. After all, it was Harper and his decade of darkness that has caused this mess. With that being said though, the Liberals should get a move on.

Incidentally, I filed for a reassessment for PTSD on April 1st and all required documentation was received by July 25th and on My VAC Account it shows as being at step 3 and it says 16 weeks is the normal adjudication period, but that they are experiencing some delays.

I asked my CM cause my application date was Jan 2016, and yet still step 2 on my VAC.

so I got a call from the DBU, and was told the same thing, Apparently for Ontario, they had at the time i got my Answer last Thursday, approx 1065 Applications to process, and there was only 5 people working on processing applications.

But he also said there was like 40 new hires and as soon as they were trained, things should get moving again.

You can also wait about 14 weeks as I've done in the past and then call VAC and ask them to "red flag" the application/s. It speeds up the process.

Called VAC today, Sept 6th, 2016.  Apparently they are just starting to process applications from the end of April!
So that 16 week turn around where they tout 80% rate of processing applications....  How the hell do they get 80% if they haven't even looked at applications from May yet?
That's very misleading.  It may take 5 months to get to your application, but 80% of the time it'll be completed within 16 weeks.
Shame on you VAC.
