1 $1,847.82
2 $1,663.12
3 $1,108.73
4 $739.21
5 $295.75

These are the monthly rates for attendance allowance. 5 different grades. VAC will determine the grade that you are. I suspect you must be anywhere between a 1 to a 3. The income is tax free. It is NOT included as income for SISIP LTD if you get that.

YES.... apply for the attendance allowance. VAC will send out an RN to do an assessment. RN then submits her report to VAC and VAC will determine what grade of attendance you require. Does not matter if wife involved in care. It is based on you needing care in your home. Then when approved, the amount will come in on the same day as your VAC disability pension.

NO, you don't lose VIP. That is a separate allowance. ** * You are eligible for the attendance allowance if you are under the Pension Act.

Help advise on Attendance Allowance

Post by peep on Sun 25 Mar 2018, 10:08

My Dr and community nurse have told me it's time to get a live in caretaker. Can someone give me advice on VAC benefits and if I even are eligible?

My wife live's here maybe 8 months of the year, to come and help out. We are not close. So I do get extra on my monthly disability check.

If I apply, do I loose the spouse amount? She needs help to from past cancer. Do I loose the VIP? I assume only the cleaning funds and not the lawn care.

Any advice is very helpful. My head injury is not getting better, and hard to read now.

Thanks
