l hear there are 30,000 claims in, but I think the real reason for the stall is that VAC was instructed by the Liberals to hold off on pay outs until April 1 2019

I honestly can't understand how it can take so long for VAC to look at all the required information submitted, then the eligibility guidelines for the particular disability and render a decision. If it were a private insurance company it would be bankrupt. I suspect the problem is as usual in any government branch...too may chiefs and not enough...

yes, but how long is too long, when VAC promises 16 weeks and itís now 32 .?

so when a vet wants to inquire about the hold up on a disability claim, that is now at the 20 week mark or longer on a supposed 16 week time frame, where do you begin. Do you call/myvacaccount your Cm.? And if so what can they do for you.? Or are you supposed to start the inquiry somewhere else, with someone in more authority?

You can call VAC or message them on My VAC account. As to what they can for you depends on your specific situation.

It was 32 weeks for my PTSD reassessment adjudication with a positive decision. All required documents received by VAC in August 2017.

the same and that's just for tinnitus...so much for the hearing related disabilities being dealt with faster than more physical injuries

Fordguy, it was around the first week of August that it went to step 3. I put my reassessment claim in back in May.

Artie Simm, no progress really. At step 3 on my reassessment. They told me when I called I should hear something around December.

First off. from now on, all partial entitlements will be assessed at 4/5, so they would not get a 1/5 assessment. Secondly, consequential conditions are assessed, based on their own table of disability rating. So something like IBS, whose maximum assessment is something 16%, with the QOL, the Veteran would get an assessment of 12%. Which would put his overall assessment at 54, so they would get a 15% LSA, or a increase to their PFL of 15%.

Iím hoping my PTSD reassessment wonít take that long. Alot of people say reassessments are generally quicker.

How does the rating work to determine your percentage? Iíve looked at the table on the site, I had no idea about that until a month or so ago. It has multiples tables with several symptoms, it also has a quality of life table as well. Does anyone know exactly how they determine it? For example, if they find you at 40% for PTSD, †do they add a QOL percentage on there as well? What is the fifths for? Like 1/5,2/5...etc. Thanks for your help

Gunner8
im no expert but my understanding is QOL % is added to other disability %, so if you were 40% PTSD and 2% for QOL, your overall disability rating with VAC would be 42%. If you had a secondary condition that could have developed on its own but could also develope as a result of your main disability, VAC ď sometimesĒ gives the soldier the benefit of the doubt and will decide how much that second disability is related to the first. Common disabilities associated with PTSD might be, irritable bowel syndrom, erectile dysfunction, etc. If a vet had both, VAC might decide your IBS is 1/5th a result of your PTSD and your ER 4/5ths or anywhere in between. So the way I see it the IBS would be paid out as 8% and the ER at 32%.
