Even if there is just a signature of the doctor on a page required, you pay $20. On average, it cost me about 15-200$ for the papers doctor did for me and I paid it right there (at the reception desk). So, they get paid right away and never had any problems with my doc doing the papers.
Pricey, yes . Possible to claim it back from VAC? doubt it. Never tried. Less I had to deal with them (VAC) happier it keeps me.
yeah thatís the quote I got $20 a page and I offered to pay and the dr. Still refused, I guess I should have brought a gun.

Unfortunately, this is becoming more and more of an issue. There are doctors, and other medical professionals, out there that won't even agree to see Veterans, specifically because they don't want to deal with VAC. It can take several months for them to be paid for those reports, and most of the time, VAC and VRAB completely disregard what the doctors write, which is basically calling them liars, or poorly educated.

Bigbrook,
That is surprising because these doctors get paid well to complete these forms. † Here are some ideas.

1. † I suggest submitting two seperate requests through the health authority in NS. †The first request is for a copy of all documents, forms, x-rays, medical reports, etc related to the treatment of your back pain/injuries in the possession of Dr.???(Specialist). †The second request would be for the same information being held by Dr. ? (family doctor). † This will get your ALL of the information to support your diagnosis/treatment. I have attached a link at the bottom of my message on the process to obtain this info.

2. If you have seen a Chiropractor, massage therapist, accupunture or physio therapist for back pain then I suggest obtaining a copy of those medical records as well. Usually, you can contact the business who provides you with these treatments directly for this information. They may charge a small fee. †This will show your ongoing treatment and history for the back issues.

3. †If you have any other statements from your partner, friends, co-workers, etc that can support your back pain claims then I would submit those statements as well. † These people may be able to state in writing that "bigbrook" can not walk any long distances because of back pain. †He cannot wash the dishes because of prolonged standing. † He no longer plays contact sports. † †

4. †Not sure if you have received the medical questionaire from VAC which your doctor has to complete. †This form indicates how he can get paid for completing the forms, the rate of pay and the information required by VAC. † †I would touch base with your case manager at VAC to explain your situation.

Good luck
Newf

Here is a link for your Province to request medical information:
