newly awarded dec

My paperwork went forward on the 4th of April for a decision on Dec, however, as of April 1st there is a new department making Dec decisions (so I've been told). I imagine decisions will take longer, seems to be the way things go when VAC tries to streamline. As soon as I have a decision, I will post an approximate time frame.

That's great news, Rainmaker!

Did you receive your CIA/CIAS Financial Benefit Worksheet?  
It should have been included with your CIA/CIAS Approval Letter from VAC?
It provides all the information you are inquiring about. It states the amount of taxes being withheld however your tax amount will be different due to the changes to the CIA/CIAS on April 1st. It also states the date of when your payments will be commencing.
It took about a month for my to show up in my bank account because of the backlog in the Accountings Department.

Thanks By the Bay for the quick reply. I already got my CIA a few months ago. After VAC rcvd DEC paperwork it was approved in a few days (DEC). I guess it the CIAS I mean. Oh and CIAS was approved before April 1st.

Hi Rainmaker1971,

The DEC does not hold any monetary value and it's really not a benefit. It's a designation used to determine a veteran's diminished capacity. Your DEC is required to applied to some VAC benefits such as CIAS benefit. Did you happen to apply for the CIA and CIAS benefits before April 1st deadline?
