About changing doctor's. Civie doc's or specialists should be no problem.
But a VaC doctor/specialist ? I assume is not Justagrrl...

Ahhh ok. Understood. Thanks.

I don't have any numbers on the back of my card anymore. I had one years ago. It had A under all the numbers. They sent me a replacement card that has nothing on the back now. I'll look into this further.

Thanks again... Cool

From my experience, the mental health team at the OSI clinics are good and they understand PTSD.

Are we allowed to change our psychologist/psychiatrist?  If I am unable to find a psychologist/psychiatrist, is it ok to just see a just a psychologist OR psychiatrist?
although ever case is different, on the one hand it comes down to the professional you feel most comfortable talking too, however, in my case I was seeing the same psychologist for 4 years, but during my DEC board, they dismissed the report and recommended I be given a 2nd assessment by their psychiatrist. If you have no preference and found both a psychologist and a psychiatrist you were comfortable with, personally, knowing what I know now, I would have taken the psychiatrist it would have caused me less literal headaches in the long run.

Thanks, SleepingDog. This is very helpful. Very Happy

I've had 3 psychologists in 10 years, 2 with a PhD and one without. Two specialized in PTSD treatment and one was a court approved forensic psychologist. One specialized in anger management.

All three medical opinions were accepted by VAC and used in my DEC determination.

Psychiatrists generally diagnose and prescribe meds. But sometimes do therapy too.

Thanks, Bruce72
