Re: Equipment based on injuries
You will need to contact VAC to request a visit and assessment from an Occupational Therapist/Occupational Nurse depending who is available in your community.
He/she will setup an appointment to visit you in your home. At the time of your visit, both of you will discuss ALL of your disabilities from "head to toe." The areas of your daily living that you are having trouble will be discussed. The OT/ON will take notes and make recommendations for you. For example, if due to a pensioned condition such as a bad back that you are having trouble bathing then the OT/ON will recommend installation of support handles or rails in your bathroom to assist you with getting into/out of the bathtub and possible other aids.
What ever type of equipment you are considering needs to be approved/recommended by the OT/ON. Once the OT/ON makes the recommendation then it still has to be approved by another Supervisor at VAC.

I’m sure blue cross can answer a lot of people’s questions, I’d rather hear it first hand from people who’ve been through it.Six-Actual wrote:BlueCross can answer your questions.

Equipment based on injuries
I’ve seen posts from vets saying they’ve been issued everything from iPads to exercise equipment to aid in recovery or living with their disabilities, what are the steps for this, is it simply done through you CM, as in “ hey I think this would help my condition...” or what .?
