Assorted Merged Stored Topics - Page 11 Empty News Conference with Peter Stoffer

Post by bigrex Thu 20 Mar 2014, 08:08

I just received a phone call from my VAC CM, saying that Peter Stoffer will be holding a press conference this afternoon at 1300, in the Dartmouth Legion at 702 Main Street. He will be discussing the confirmed position of the Conservatives, that the GoC does not have any special obligation to Veterans who have been injured in the line of duty. She urged me to attend, and I'm sure that they would welcome as many local Veterans as possible.

Assorted Merged Stored Topics - Page 11 Empty Boest deal of all

Post by Guest Mon 17 Mar 2014, 07:46

good day to every  one,

I'm not sorry that my first language is not english so bear with me i'll do my best. Ive been reading your posts in the last few years and I did enjoy some of it

My point this morning is who got the best deal into this class action settlement. Can you imagime been on a mission for +- 6 months working 7 days a week, average 14-16 hours a day if no plus in case of urgencies. Take your salaries at that time and divide that with the number of working hours, hostile location, stress , life at risk and away from your kids/wife/familly member , so on and so on. I ended up receiving a salary of $ 2.50 to $2.75  per hour at that time for my pay rate , WOH WOH

The firm (MC) did work for +-$7000 per hour back home in their office working on our cases they must had been working in a very hostile environment away from their loves ones in their nice heated houses to care for ..............................

They were allow to give and receive love, share meal (hot) take the kids to school make love to their partner, having a normal canadian citizen lifestyle that was taking away from us.

Lucky you that had a $ 200 000 $ 300 000 settlement but at the end how much you will enjoy when legal is paid off incomme tax ect..........
beleive me not much , forgot no wonder they faught for you so hard and the appeal story.

Congrat to Dennis with is own package $$$$$ is he deducted with legal fees ?, sure income taxes but i was'nt a bad deal.Ask the multi hundred............amount a much they will get at the end

Vive le canada Wear your medal(s) avec fiereté my as.........................................

Assorted Merged Stored Topics - Page 11 Empty It is too bad that Mr. Fantino doesn't really understand the system he helps sell to the world!

Post by Guest Sun 16 Feb 2014, 11:10

Dear Veterans,

Like many of you, I have been stuck dealing with Veterans Affairs for more than 24 years now for a military medical release.  I never know what astoundes me more, how little these ministers really understand about what they are saying in regards to how DVA support veterans, or that they go to great lengths to run down and disparage these same veterans if they comment openly about how poor their service is getting.

Let us reflect on the better days.  We used to be able to call our medical case workers directly and we were provided with their telephone numbers to do so.  Then this government decided that this was too wasteful and convenient so complicated call centers that do not want to put through your direct calls are the norm.  Email back and forth worked for awhile but again, the government stepped in and shut that down so case workers are not allowed to respond to emails except with phone calls during business hours only.  We used to get postage paid envelopes for the pile of paperwork that we all have to send in for medical needs.  But not anymore.   Yes you might be able to find some form on the internet or your fancy cell phone app, but it won't let you apply for anything without signing for it and including the inevitable attachments they always require.  Now take over 4000 DND and RCMP vets in the north half of Saskatchewan.  Probably about 10% requiring regular medical work and case working intervention, now take away all those local case workers entirely, put those cases onto the two existing and overloaded case workers in Regina and add just one more body to help out where more than 10 did the job in Saskatoon.  What is going to happen to the marginalized veterans, young and old, that are in critical need and should be directly cared for and watched out for by their case worker?  There is no way on earth that these people are going to get better care in any shape or form.  Any person requiring interactions with a case worker are not going to benefit at all.  So those in the best situation might have a little more access to some forms at a Service Canada location, but most likely, you can get those yourself on the internet anyway if you wanted.  But for those that have continual need to deal with DVA to keep medical treatments and medications flowing, it will be a substantially harder fight any way you cut it.  The people that cost DVA the most and deal the most with DVA will get the least service.  See the plan here.  Limit the greatest expenditures by greatly limiting access.  Since they now only count suicides of serving regular force males, I wonder why they are not counting regular force female suicides, and all reserve force statistics.  Better yet, if they were really concerned about the veterans, how about those of you that served in a conflict zone and were released after due to injuries or stress issues.  Should not a caring and compassionate system be tracking all those people as well to know they are making a real difference?  But why track numbers when you are pretty sure your governments actions are going to increase this possibility in the first place?
I think we veterans should find a way to create a realistic national database to openly log and track suicides across Canada and across all services including past membership in those services.  Something that only posts anonymous statistics as to not further harm families that are effected of course.  If you have any ideas, I would love to hear about this from you.

Take care to you all.  We have to find a better way to support those that were put in harms way for our protection and the country's own interest.  I was not one of these people by the way.  I served and was injured solely in peacetime.  There are small differences in treatment benefits for those that served in conflicts and those like me that did not.  But honestly, those differences are much too small for my personal feeling.  You that served and took great risk deserve a markedly better treatment.  And I am totally pissed off they you keep getting less and less over the years due to convenience and false budget concerns.  So I will keep fighting for those that served and are no longer with us and especially for those of you that live on and are really suffering and deserve great respect and care.

Regards

Harper Conservatives’ ‘obsession’ with balanced budget hurting Canadian economy:

The former finance minister says it’s the wrong policy when households are carrying record levels of debt, the country is running a chronic trade deficit and businesses aren’t boosting their investments.

Goodale says the government should allot more money for infrastructure and access to post-secondary education, while eliminating tariffs on consumer goods and reducing the burden of higher employment insurance payroll taxes.

He says the Tories should also stop spending millions of taxpayer dollars on advertising unless there’s some accountability on how that money is spent.

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty insists he won’t balance the books on the backs of the provinces, but that’s not the case, said Liberal MP John McCallum.

So it sure looks like all these cuts that are implemented by the conservatives, are paving the way for election 2015.
This is what I think their strategy is for being re elected.
Will it be the right strategy, who knows, the opposition parties have to come up with some counter strategies to beat them in the next election, interesting to know the outcome of this one.

It intends to double the premiums that retired bureaucrats pay for the Public Service Health Care Plan while limiting their eligibility for the plan. That move will save $1.5 billion in 2014-15 and up to $7.4 billion by 2018-2019.

So if retired Judges and retired members of parliament fall under the heading of retired bureaucrats, the answer to your question would be yes, they are affected by this change. You raise a good and interesting question, however the full disclosure of the change has not to my knowledge been made public yet.
So we will have to keep and eye out on this one, as I am sure their will be lots of controversy in the days ahead on this one.
