Re: RCMP Superannuation
I think you are referring to this section, from an archived interpretation letter from 1990
"RCMP Pension or Compensation
14. Pursuant to paragraph 81(1)(i), pension payments, allowances
and other compensation received in respect of an injury,
disability or death arising directly out of, or directly
connected with, the service of a member in the RCMP under the
provisions of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pension
Continuation Act or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Superannuation Act, are not to be included in the recipient’s
income. This exemption does not extend to long service pensions
which are subject to tax under subparagraph 56(1)(a)(i)."
Unfortunately, I could not find anything in the actual Income tax act, or regulations. So it may have been quietly removed over the last 20 years. But it might be something that could be brought forward to the RCMP, or even taxpayers Ombudsmen

Re: RCMP Superannuation
2truck,
Now that’s interesting and maybe I am incorrect. Perhaps there is someone with a tax background or knowledgeable on this forum who can confirm this with the appropriate legislation or GOC policy.

RCMP Superannuation
Thanks for the info.
But I read in the Income Tax Act under IT-397R that if you are injured and receive an immediate annuity that it is not considered income.
Receiving a pension under the RCMP Superannuation Act due to injury is Not the same as a retirement pension! (i.e. 20 yrs or more)

Re: RCMP Superannuation
Yes, your are correct gravel road cop. Your will have to pay Provincial and Federal tax on all pension income that you receive from GOC as well as GWL. Other monies received from VAC are non taxable.
Here is a link to determine how much you will pay in taxes:

Cheers and thank you for your service.

Re: RCMP Superannuation
I believe all superannuation pension is taxable. Money received from Great West Life is also taxable. Any money received from Veterans Affairs / Pension Act is tax free.

Hi.
Can any ex RCMP who was released with an injury and less than 20 years served, confirm that your superannuation pension is tax free?
Ty.
