Post-Retirement Disability Benefit

Simpler than it looks
This benefit is simply the government’s fixing a discrepancy in the CPP Disability benefit. Previously if anyone, civilian or veterans had taken early (age 60) CPP retirement benefit, they were no longer eligible for disability benefits even should they become disabled between 60-65. This changes that policy to allow persons who become disabled while already collecting CPP to be eligible for the increased CPPD amount.
That’s it. Not a new or separate program. Just repairing a hole in the old program.

Re: Post-Retirement Disability Benefit
IMO this benefit is more for civilians then military.
Why?
SISIP!
If there is a deduction from SISIP LTD payments out there then they would be all over this benefit and getting vets on it. SISIP is the driving force for veterans to apply for CPPD so they can reduce the monthly payment to the disabled veteran.

Re: Post-Retirement Disability Benefit
l am not good at reading, lol, but what if a veteran is already on cppd, this other benefit does not apply, or can the vet get both if they apply?thxKramer wrote:Teentitan wrote:This sounds more like a benefit for those without a disability insurance plan from their employers and they are close to mandatory retirement.
So more of a civilian benefit then a veteran benefit.
Yes, it is a benefit for all Canadians, not just vets, just like CPPD, but it is a government benefit that maybe applicable to some vets. I was ignorant to it, I am guessing I may not be the only one?

Post-Retirement Disability Benefit
I just came across the PRDB yesterday! I must have been sleeping a lot longer than I thought as I have never heard of this Benefit!!
I did a quick search of it on this site but nothing came up?
Or maybe it is kept low-key for a reason?

Still waiting to hear about the new "Canada' Disability Benefit."
