Re: Pension increase for 2013
Also, according to the RCL website, VAC's index rate has only dipped below 2% twice in the last 14 years.

Where did you get that info? In the past the legion knew what the index increase were, even before the VAC front line staff, but they haven't updated their website yet. I'm not saying that it isn't true, but I prefer seeing things in writing.

I think the GOC is worried about cash, CPPD is getting 1.9 percent it handily keeps up with the true cost of living

CPI vs VAC for the last 10 years
CPI / VAC
2002 - 2.2 / 3.0
2003 - 2.8 / 2.9641
2004 - 1.8 / 3.2
2005 - 2.2 / 1.7
2006 - 2.0 / 7.1146
2007 - 2.2 / 2.2917
2008 - 2.3 / 2.0
2009 - 0.3 / 2.5
2010 - 1.8 / 3.346776
2011 - 2.9 / 2.8
So historically, over the last 10 years VAC has matched the CPI (within .1%) twice, below CPI twice and exceeded it on 6 occasions. SO, if I was to bet, the odds would be that VAC will beat 1.9%, but by how much is anyone's guess.

This site shows the historical rates for CPI which would be applied to our pensions.

Re: Pension increase for 2013
I believe the rates are the same. I went back to what I got last year for CPP(D) and VAC and both were indexed at 2.9%.
As far as I am aware, when the govt comes out with the CPI increase for the year, the same amount it used for CPP, OAS, CFSA and VAC.

Re: Pension increase for 2013
Well I know that the first 2 are indexed at 1.9%, but VAC is almost always higher. last year the national index rate was 1.7%, but VAC increased by 2.8%. We'll just have to wait and see if that trend continues.
