Re: Privatizing Search & Rescue
The biggest thing here is that by privatizing any service is that the government can maintain control over the operations and safety standards while being paid to implement its cut. However due to this form of control this privatization scam will only "kill" the clients it serves as I fear the government will create so much overhead on these companies that we will not be able to afford the service period and in the end lives will be lost. F##king sad indeed.

Honestly I can see why this was looked at, even if it is not wise, or popular. It is the only section of the CF, that spends more time and money working towards civilian interests, than that of the military. TBH, I'm surprised they never transferred SAR duties to the Coast Guard, since that is supposedly their bread and butter.

this is an important job that is done by guys who have dedicated their lives to physical fitness and developed a lot of the skills they have in other areas of the military before they became sar-tecs .
how the frack is anyone in civi land going to do this better or cheaper .

Re: Privatizing Search & Rescue
I agree with Teen , it's a bad Idea just considering it.
Being ex Military we all know so well how well trained the Sar Tech's are.
This is one area that should be boosted by the government in terms of equipment , not looked at to be privatized.

This is seriously starting to get embarassing. Even if it doesn't happen; just the idea of doing this is absolutely embarassing for Canada.
Here's a point the Liberal DND Panel hasn't thought of.....keep doing crap like this just how in the hell does the UN trust Canada at the Security Table???
