First Panser hope your son is doing better.  My kids all had high fevers at one point in their lives, kids are tough and it’s a way of making ones body immune system even better.

Second, Year of the Veteran was done in 2005.  I remember the pin we had to place on DU’s for the year and the longest Speech on Remembrance Day in 2005. At least four guys did face plants, it was that long.  A lot it did, next year they introduced the NVC.

2018 Year of _ _ _ _ _ _ _?

2018 the year of the veteran?

Bad News:

My two year old son had a fever of 101 when I put him to bed last night, he maintained that fever when he woke at 12AM, and at 2AM, at 4AM he had a temperature of 91, at 90 apparently their organs begin to shutdown. We rush to get him to the hospital, get downstairs enter the garage to find the garage door open, shattered glass everywhere damage to my car, my physiotherapy bike which cost me out of pocket of 5300 of my disability award and two other bikes costing in the range of 2500-3000 which we have had for only a year gone. The garage door opener motor broken due to being forced upwards against the chain.

Good News(not really): I just installed a camera in my garage on my bloody garage door opener. Now I have a copy of a video of two homeless people, one african american male and a caucasion female breaking in and stealing my three bikes. Police officer says that the odds of ever recovering are practically nil even if we caught the thieves, so the video is just a nice memento.

Yeah. I am fucking down with the world. It can go to hell.

oh boys todays NVC sucks flat out and although no one can say for sure till the legislation and regulations role out , something they can do in a week but I suspect we will not see them for almost another year , these new changes look nothing but bad . it LOOKS like we are going from bad to worse . thanks JT but no thanks .

yup one of the worst systems in the free western world for sure . yes to be fair even though a lot of western European countries are democracies they have some heavy socialist leanings and that accounts for a lot of that we cant compete with that and I believe nor should we .now we should be able to provide a level of compensation comparable to the more conservative democracies in the free western world but sadly no we are if not the very worst defiantly one of them .

hey for a brief time the UK was worse . yup its true . they came out with a buyout program backed by ABC benefits that look oddly like ours do today . mind you I believe their buyout was closer to the %360,000.00 than the $250,000.00 where we started but that's neither here nor there . after the outcry and discussed amongst well everyone the buyout was quickly changed to around 1.2 million .not even sure what it would be today given COLA but quite a bit more I'm sure . still at that they were about the worst .

OH BUT WAIT !!!!

surely Canada would not be outdone in a race to the bottom ??? no sir !!!! we came up with a plan much like the British a buyout backed by ABC benefits . oh but instead of a 1.2 million buyout what would we give ??? an even million ?? or half say around 600,000.00 ? maybe an even 500,000 ? NOPE half that again and they gave $250,000.00 . wholy frack an amount that wasn't even legal anywhere in this country for that type of compensation . almost in an effort to thumb their noses at the British on their way down passed them to the bottom they kept the same fracked up adjudification and redress system they already have witch since the NVCs inception has VRABs denials at about 65% inaccurate .

yes not only do we have the worst benefits package we make it hard as hell for those that defiantly qualify to even get the compensation. TAKE THAT BRITTON .

CANADA WINS CANADA WINS !!!!!

god I hope we win the world juniors this year . id really like us to win something we actually want to win .

GO CANADA

Johnny211:
Pierre Elliot Trudeau son Justin knows veterans are/will be well taken care of with these additional new policies IF they can fix the DELAYS, lessen the administrative nightmare and change the systems internal mentality. The benefits are there, the money is there, the programs are there. He knows the problems are with delays and he knows why its happening. BUT it takes time to fix a governmental system. If he has the will and the patience he can!  Justin, like many of us will just get bored, tired, exhausted from doing battle over the next few years. Then he will retire and fade away.  It happens to all of us even politicians. He is just another dude like us!  Just like the Phoenix Pay System even the PM cant fix it quickly and he totally controls the government. Why can't he you ask? Cause some departments/policies/computer programs are totally frigged up period !    IMO

Relion - I’m with you. They are going to have too hire more to work on these files. It’s disgusting that a wounded Vet wait over a yr. The other thing I don’t understand is why these changes are in effect 1 Apr 2019. They should be Apr 2018. Junior can come up with millions at the drop of the hat for other stupid announcement. I quess that tells us where his priorities are..On another note Happy New Year Brothers and Sisters,,Johnny Out..VVV...

Rubicon, What is available to veterans now with the NVC  and the planned changes for 2019 isn't that terrible. In fact it is one of the best disabled veterans programs in the world . The only part I am disgusted with is how long everything take. Every application, every program takes so long to access. The rejection rate is decreasing but still a battle. In fact I believe it causes more added stress related illness. If we could finally get VAC to deal with the backlog and make it easier for vets to receive benefits I could live happily with what we would receive. I am one that believed from 2006 that tax free pensions would never return.       IMO

After reading veteran Robert Smol's 2015 article in the National Post and being disappointed beyond words watching MVA Seamus O'Regan lie thru his teeth on national television to the Canadian public, why don't we as a CSAT Forum unite and start an on-line petition declaring 2018 the Year of the Veteran? If nothing else an on-line petition might start a public dialogue and help the veteran's cause. Anyone here have experience creating an on-line petition that could be seen across the country and around the world in less than a day? I'm personally starting with a letter to my local Liberal MP Neal Harris, the MVA and the Prime Minister. A simple and polite letter stating that I'm fed up with the dismal government treatment as a veteran of this country and I'm committed to getting better representation for the future veterans of this country. There is precedence out there already with European militaries and the timing couldn't be better to strike back at the Liberal Government before the next federal election. Who is with me? Suggestions are always welcome. Sunny ways, sunny ways, indeed! Happy New Year everyone! Keep the faith and let's make 2018 the Year of the Veteran.
