Re: Veteran Claims
Oh wow. I had no idea. So does that mean that for those of us who have had disability awards in lump sums will be getting a monthly pension when this new act comes into effect in April?
Thanks

Re: Veteran Claims
Well, for one thing, if they paid out a lump sum now, it would mean that they would have to do all the calculations, and then possibly also pay out a monthly pension, as small as it may be. But if they wait until April, you would only get a lump sum, or the monthly pension, not both. For example, if a 30 year old Veteran got a $360000 lump sum now, they would still be entitled to a PFL pension of roughly $550/mo. But if they make them wait until after April, they would only get the $360000, or $1150/mo.

Veteran Claims
I read somewhere on here that they think that VAC is delaying claims as much as possible, to maybe bring it to the April 1 date, when the new options or what not kick in. What exactly would that mean for Veterans? Will the new options be worst for us? How would VAC benefit from making us wait until April? Thanks
