A few points to consider for those looking for someone to complete their taxes. Tell them that you have a completed T1198 form, receipt from the Lawyers for Legal fees, T4's ect... ask them what they will charge you for the job, if it's to high, that will be a sign of a rip off. Like I stated above any amount in excess of $200 in my mind would be questionable.

Shop around...there are many accountants/tax professionals out there. As with any profession, there may be shysters. Please avoid the quick cash-back scams. They only serve themselves. Good luck. I usually go with BDO as they represent you in the event of a conflict. This year my financial adviser has referred me to their accountant for filing.

As far as filling our 2013 tax return with respect to the SISIP lump sum payment you have received, there should be no accountant billing anyone percentage wise, all the hard work would be completed before it hits their desk. It's just a matter of placing the numbers in the proper lines of the tax form. The T1198 would be sent out with your return, and the CRA will calculate going back. So in my opinion any accountant trying to charge you a percentage of your return is ripping you off big time.
This SISIP lump sum is really straight forward, if you feel that you must pay big bucks to have this done, by all means that is your choice, I can only say that I will not be paying big bucks $200 max is what I will pay. Keep one thing in mind when planning who will complete your return, all of the hard work is already done, just make sure you have all the proper forms TA slips / completed T1198 / receipt from the Lawyers. You already have the Lawyers receipt, so the only things left are your T4 slips, and the completed T1198, which will be sent to you. This is only my opinion, I am not and accountant, therefor what I have stated is only what I think, everyone's tax situation differs from one to the next, so if your accountant has told you different, by all means if you are comfortable with what he or she has stated , go for it.
Again I would stress this is only my opinion.

Tax time is approaching and with the more complicated tax return for the year 2013 attached is a portal to locate a tax specialist in areas closest to you.
