Sapper a few ways of paying your taxes 1- PERSONAL CHEQ 2- certified cheq- 3 You can sign up on-line on cra web site and set up an account with them its secure. 4 use your bank, I deal with TD and had them add revenue Canada to my account just like cable, phone , hydro, ect most bank will do this for you. For those that live outside Canada ie USA, and owe taxes the Scotia Bank can handle this for you. If you wish more info on how to pay your taxes go on to CRA web site and type in search how to pay taxes. How ever you decide to pay insure you get a copy. hope this helps.

sapper they should be able to do it as you said without a voucher just sin number. it wouldn't be a bad idea to pick one up though. on your way to pay your tax if the bank is closer stop there first if the accountant is closer you might want to stop there first and grab one however I have never needed one but all banks are a little different.

on second thought just maybe call your bank they will tell you for sure will probably save you a little running around.

Sapper, I don't know if you can just show up at the bank and do that. When I asked for a voucher because of what I learned on csat, the firm said it is only given to those who efile but when I pushed on the matter because I did not want to take a chance with the bank et al, the secretary inquired. As it was, they said CRA prefers efiles versus paper files and so they (vouchers) are uncommon unless efiled. In the end, it was agreed that I could get a voucher with the amount owed and CRA info transcribed on voucher. If you can, go back to accountant and they should give you a voucher. Just my opinion but I think you should have one prior to going to the bank just to cover your bases.
Side note - because I was paper filing the accountant wanted me to attach a cheque for the amount owed for taxes with the tax return...I could not and would not do that which is why I requested the voucher.

I didn't get a voucher thing from the accountant. Is this how I pay this? I thought I could perhaps show up at the bank with my sin number and give them some money for CRA.

I was told the same Sapper, our accountant had to mail the tax returns as well due to the 1198 and although the firm was reluctant to forward the RC4288 until we received a Notice of Assessment, with Propats encouragement I requested that it be sent in rather than wait for a Notice of Assessment. I am still undecided as to whether to wait for the 1198 to be processed and if it is beyond end of April whether to hold off paying my 14K tax bill. However, there is still time and can decide closer to end April. With the paper filing, I did have to request a voucher with the tax amount owing notated in any event which the accountant firm provided.

hey sapper just a point but deemed tax and tax penalties are two different things. buds that tax bill is your worst case scenario and it really blows I have my doubts but I hope to hell the 1198 helps you I some fashion.

of all on here I believe you have the biggest retro im hoping if the 4288 is accepted for anyone on here it is you.

I hope everyone prepaired for the worst now its time to hope for the best.

good luck to all

Thanks Sapper, I don't believe in your situation you will owe and probably will be refunded as you had no income those past years. A number of people I know in your situation were told they probably have refunds

Finished my taxes today...tax accountant called CRA on my behalf. They suggested I not pay my large tax bill until my T1198 is addressed and assessed. They also said to send in my RC428 with my mail-in tax package. They said they cannot accept e-filed taxes with a T1198. They also said that no penalties will be charged based on my 1198. Good luck gang.

sparrow these are taken on a case by case basis so that assumption would not be correct however it would set a great president for appeal for the rest since we are filing on the ground of mistake ore delay NOT FINANCIAL HARDSHIP technically we are all in the exact same situation.
