Re: Permanent Impairment Allowance (PIA)
Thanks all.
My CM contacted me in January to fill out the application and WOW I received the paperwork today that it was granted!
I didn't do any research before because I didn't think it would be granted.

correct bigrex no reduction to SISIP ore ELB if you have PIA but it is taxable.

Re: Permanent Impairment Allowance (PIA)
SISIP cannot deduct PIA without the NVC being among the list of other income sources to be deducted. And even that would have had to have been done back in 2006. And just for clarity, PIA does not reduce amounts paid under the ELB program either.

Re: Permanent Impairment Allowance (PIA)
I just got off the phone to SISIP.
I asked if receiving PIA would effect my LTD payments. I was told the payments remain the same.
I told her that the letter states I will receive a T4 showing it as income. She reiterated: "VA payments do not effect SISIP payments"
Couldn't find the information written anywhere.

Re: Permanent Impairment Allowance (PIA)
Is PIA a taxable benefit as I believe it replaces the Exceptional Incapacity Allowance which is non taxable ...if taxable I assume it affects LTD payments. If not then would reason no it does not. Of course just my thoughts not certain.

Permanent Impairment Allowance (PIA)
If you are granted PIA does this reduce your SISIP LTD accordingly?
