These are the words that I like;

True enough serving in our armed forces regardless of trade, combat, non combat, we are all unique in the job we do in the service, we all must be ready and able to answer the call when called upon.
So the unique nature of military service should prove right to all disabled Veterans when it comes to benefits - no division - no breaking up benefits into a whole cluster of different categories.
Categories should only be used in determining the extent to which one Veteran is to receive benefits from looking and hearing from qualified health professions on the extent of his or hers condition - or conditions.
We are not civilians, we are Veterans , we are unique to our duties that we performed , we are unique in the way that we are the ones who's duties are to answer the call when called upon, we are unique therefore there should be no reason why Veterans should have to constantly fight - or be worried about our security when it comes to receiving benefits.

im guessing the GOC's argument against class certification is dead . im hoping the lawsuit goes all the way and returns the monthly pension .

Bigrex; I would like to think you are right to having the wind sucked out of their sails.......but arrogance and Conservatives are synonymous. Who is to know what true agenda any politician/party has. As far as I am concerned Harper has already lost all credibility with me.

He/they give crumbs to the veterans and expect us to pay homage as they attempt to insult our intelligence;

They spend thousands on lawyers to fight us vets and claim there is no Sacred Obligation;

They spent thousands on useless advertising; and

They returned 1.13 BILLION so the veterans couldn't have/use it!!!! what a kick in the head 5 times over.

The vote yesterday, and the clause from O'Toole have definitely sucked the wind out of the sails of the lawyers arguing the case. Hopefully the lawyers are advising the Tories that it is time to surrender, and reach a settlement, because if this goes to a full trial, it will likely cost them far more.

The only thing I want to know is, if O'Toole and the Tories were planning on supporting the NDP motion, then why go on and publicly decry it as cheap politicking and a rip off of what they had included in the new bill? He is only losing credibility.

EQUITAS COMMENDS PARLIAMENTARIANS FOR UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CANADIAN VETERANS
(N.D.P. Opposition Day Motion re: Standalone covenant of moral, social, legal, and fiduciary obligation between the people and Government of Canada and Veterans)
The EQUITAS Society is very pleased to acknowledge that today - May 12, 2015 - the representatives of all political parties in concert with independent Members of the House of Commons joined together in a unanimous vote of all those present - 266 yeas vs. 0 nays - supporting the resolution proposed by Mr. Fin Donnelly, MP - N.D.P., New Westminster-Coquitlam, BC:
That, in the opinion of the House, there exists a standalone covenant of moral, social, legal, and fiduciary obligation between the people and Government of Canada to provide equitable financial compensation and support services to past and active members of the armed forces who have been injured, disabled or have died as a result of military service, and to their dependents, and which the Government of Canada is obligated to fulfill. Further, that the guiding principle for their recognition, care and compensation must always include compassion and dignity while properly taking into account the unique nature of military service.
EQUITAS thanks Mr. Donnelly for his significant work in bringing this resolution before Parliament and obtaining the support of all members.
EQUITAS is also pleased that the veterans legislation introduced by the Government of Canada, Bill C-58, acknowledges in a “purpose clause” that:
The purpose of this Act is to recognize and fulfil the obligation of the people and Government of Canada to show just and due appreciation to members and veterans for their service to Canada. This obligation includes providing services, assistance and compensation to members and veterans who have been injured or have died as a result of military service and extends to their spouses or common-law partners or survivors and orphans. This Act shall be liberally interpreted so that the recognized obligation may be fulfilled.
It is heartening and encouraging that during the Parliamentary debates on the N.D.P motion and comments following the tabling of Bill C-58, Members of Parliament from all parties expressed their support for measures that would provide for the fair and equitable treatment of veterans.
Formed for the express purpose of advancing the cause of fairness for disabled veterans regarding financial entitlement, EQUITAS salutes all those like-minded fellow Canadians across the veterans community, people in every region, province and territory and in all political parties. The commitment and efforts of countless numbers of them - along with the professional dedication of Don Sorochan, Q.C. and his Miller Thomson LLP legal team backing the representative veteran plaintiffs EQUITAS is supporting before the Courts - have contributed towards the evolution and acceptance by Parliament of such a covenant (and the obligation of and by our Government it accepts) as a reflection of Canada's national identity forged by those prepared to go into harm's way for our democratic principles and way of life.
