To whom it concerns,

As you all know by my last email that I sent you Feb. 15 (see below), my husband is sick and still fighting Veterans affairs for a full pension. After many years fighting for what he should have had in 1998 when he was released from the military, we realized many years ago that with veteran’s affairs, it’s all about paper work and the right wording. In saying this he was diagnosed by veteran’s affairs to say he had somatoform disorder. We were explained that means your whole body is sick and they don’t know why. Well as you know Frank tested positive for depleted uranium after being tested in 2001.Research shows depleted uranium in the body creates many illnesses. Obviously it would only make sense that with a depleted uranium test showing positive, we can finally understand why he is as sick as he is and also explain the "somatoform disorder".
So could someone please let me know how to word this, so veteran’s affair can understand it? And hopefully with the right wording Frank will finally get what he deserves. Thank you

My husband served in the gulf war from august 1990 to April 1991 on the HMCS Terra Nova. When he came back he was not the same man. As the years wore on health issues started to appear. As the years continued his health deteriorated to the point that in 1998 he was released from the military.

To this day we are still fighting Veterans affairs so he can get what he deserves. He gave one hundred percent of himself to his country and to this day in 2011 he still does not have a full pension. Canada said they would take care of their men. NOT! My husband tested positive for depleted uranium in 2003.I am adding those results in an attachment as well as a letter from veterans affairs that clearly states depleted uranium is non pensionable.

No money will ever bring my husband’s health back. It won’t give him back all he has missed all these years due to his illness. It won’t make our dysfunctional family normal. It will make frank feel that his country is there for him, to support him, now that he is sick, instead of feeling let down and abandoned by his country as is now the case.

Frank has had health issues including major depression, mood swings, headaches, joint pain, loss of teeth, heart issues, vertigo, arthritis, diabetes ,to name a few. On a good day he only has to take 11 pills to function, more if he’s not having a not so good day. Franks illness has affected our whole family. Our 22 yrs old son moved out of our home 3 yrs ago, and is being treated by a doctor for panic attacks, anxiety attacks and has to see a doctor on a monthly basis. He at this time cannot work and we have to support him financially creating more stress.

I do not wish this life on anyone, but at times I think maybe one should walk a mile in our shoes before making judgment. All we ask is that Frank receives what he deserves. Not have to fight for years and years to finally get what he should have had in 1998 when he was released from the military. Also if someone like David Sherbanowski (I have added an attachment on his ruling) has been pensioned for exposure to Depleted uranium and other chemicals why is Frank not recognized (he has tested positive for depleted uranium)?

In closing I hope that in writing this letter I have made you realize that there are still many sick veterans that do not have what they deserve. And in making you aware of this, you will stand up and fight for what is right for these veterans including my husband Frank.
