That is a good idea, about reassessments, especially if you are younger, because the amount that the PSC will be reduced by, will likely only be around half of what you would have received, if you waited. Half of a crappy pension, is only half as crappy, when you had the large lump sum award as well. For example, if two NVC Veterans were given an option to get an additional 10% right now or wait, and they both dedcided differently The veteran who took the $36540 LSA this year, would still receive reduced PSC next year, that is dependent of their age. The second Veteran would get the full $115/mo added on, which is ok, but the likely difference of $50-$70/mo, between the two, isn't even enough to pay for a dinner out once a month. And if the second Veteran opts for the LSA after 2019, that's it, no PSC, unless they are approved for additional claims.
