If you have a CF member whos a friend and is still serving; call him and give him the names of some of your references and see if they are still serving and get him to give you their work number and CF email.

Air log, extraforus, - I also used my past Per,s when I applied for first job. But it helped that the mgr at that time was a reserve captain. Because they may be a bit Greek to a civi..

I had the same challenge as you did. When I told the recruiting company good luck contacting my references as they could be anywhere now or retired the recruiting company said that the PERs that I sent them was good enough. No need to contact the references. I included 10 PERS with my application. Ask if they will accept your PERs.

Great thanks for the quick reply. Exactly what i thought. Nothing i can do about it, did facebook, unit call etc. I can't force an employer to hire me just based on the fact that i'm ex-military with medals and a great career!
Just hoping and crossing my fingers now.

Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence when trying to get out first job, especially if it's not immediately after our release. My only suggestion is to give them the phone number and name of your last unit and supervisor, and maybe the current people will know how to contact the individuals. Or they could know you themselves, and provide the reference. You can only worry about what you can control.
Another thing you could try is facebook. I've found lots of guys I used to work with on there, and there may even be a group dedicated for your Trade, that could point you towards someone useful..

great job opportunity... but wait i need advice on this one !!
Long story short, got out medically 2 years ago did the rehab program etc. I applied for a job in a well known company that is so-called military friendly, did
the job interview, urine test, police check, driving records etc. Everything is fine except for the fact that they can't reach any of the supervisors i had when i was in the forces.
Of course when i left i made sure that i had reference letters which i handed to them. But still not good enough i guess. I'd like to know your thought about this
situation ? i explained the fact that my supervisors could be posted god knows where, on tour, retired.. i'm running out of ideas. Thanks
