CPP(D) would be the first thing to apply for, benefits are payable for the member and for children under 18 at home, or over 18 the extra payment goes directly to the kids if still in school.

because they were released prior to 2006 and the new veterans charter, they probably like me would not have been properly followed for ELB, and the PIA and PIA supplement,

so the second thing would be to apply for the ELB with VAC, they will get turned down in all likelyhood due to the amount of their VAC which may be redressed in the new year or given a small sum (which is good) which should also be corrected in the new year,

the changes that are due to come this next year with VAC not including and taking the PA amount each month from the ELB benefit, will benefit the member greatly.

they could be too late to file for the SISIP amount, but should contact McInnesCooper in Halifax to see if they would be applicable to this class action suit for reinstatement of LTD, otherwise stick to the ELB

ELB and SISIP are basically the same type of benefit, but ran from two different agencies, you would be better off to stick to the ELB with VAC, as they will be guaranteeing a minimum amount each year, whereas SISIP is limited to 75% of your prerelease pay, increased by 2% max each year (not to the cost of living or consumer price index)

hope this helps

I have a friend who put in his release in 2000. The military released him but it was later appealed and his release was updated as a 3(b) medical. The military was also reprimanded for releasing him without getting the proper help. He has 100% VAC disability for PTSD. Because he was in no state of mind to ask for SISIP ltd and the military did nothing to assist him, can he file for a claim under SISIP ltd?
He is a very proud, mountain of a man who cannot even fill out paper work. He and his family have been living of his VAC pension .
I also presume that he should be on CPP and PIA . I need some answers to how to help him out.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
