Hey Happy, if the writing is to small for you to read, try lowering the screen resolution on your computer. This will increase the size of every thing, including the text. I hope this helps.

If you signed the SISIP contract prior to be being changed, you're in it until you're out of it, so to speak....it should only affect those signing for it after the date it changed, otherwise that is a breach of contract as well. Old Petesky should get it for us in writing...that is if his lordship isn't too busy getting a manicure from handling too much of our money.

Only to age 65 I was told by my sisip cm, also they have no plans to change it. Also old age pension kicks in at 67 so both CPPD and sisip ltd / Elb should at least go to the new official retirement age

That is not what was explained to me. I joined in 90 and released in 06, and was told back in 2007 that if deemed totally disabled, then SISIP would continue until age 65. So unless Peter clearly states that those who joined prior to 1995, and not just those medically released prior to 95, will be covered for life, I would continue expect SISIP to end at 65. Because Peters reply doesn't specify either way, and is too ambiguous. Maybe some of those released after 95, who have been reinstated can clarify what the letter states from SISIP. Do they say that the benefit is for life or only until 65?

Can you advise whether McIness Cooper has or will consider looking at the Sisip age 65 cut off date for receiving benefits. Can MC advise on this matter. Thank you for your time as always."

The response from Peter Driscoll to the question was  ~

"This issue has already been resolved. Pre-95 are not subject to a cutoff at 65."

Notwithstanding the obvious, the question was not answered entirely as hoped.

So does this mean that those who joined prior to 1995 will be covered for life as per terms of the agreement that they had signed and understood?
And those that joined the service 1995 and going forward are only covered till the age of 65 as per terms of the agreement that they had signed in 1995 and going forward and understood?

I agree Sparrow, not much of an answer. It still doesn't resolve the issue for those who joined prior to this change, but medically released afterwards, and were screwed out of the insurance that they believed they were paying for. Peter must be gearing up to become a politician., Aha, maybe that is what happened at the negotiations. The Tories might have told him that if he would let them screw us over in the settlement, they would make him a Senator, and could milk the taxpayers for life and only work a few months of the year. There had to be a reason that they rolled over and played dead so easily at the negotiation table, because getting us damages or significant tax considerations would have only benefited their bottom line.

Thanks again Sparrow, I see the only reason for MC not being interested is theres no money in it for them, remember people MC is a business , nothing more, this issue will have to be moved ahead by veterans and I know both the legion and CVA is starting to move on this. Also remember ELB people this also ends at 65 so everybody has a stake in it

I did inquire via email to Peter Driscoll about the cut off date  policy:

"Peter,
Can you advise whether McIness Cooper has or will consider looking at the Sisip age 65 cut off date for receiving benefits. Happy, I agree that changing the scope of the LTD from a lifelong plan to ceasing at 65 completely blows, and it would be interesting to see a judges legal opinion on lawfulness of changing a policy so drastically without consultation from those it affects. It was one thing to make it mandatory, because that didn't involve changing the actual policy. Who knows, maybe some of the reinstated guys could request a judicial review, since MC already has a full understanding of the policy and have done all the leg work already, it should be easy for them to litigate. and when the GoC lawyers argue that it has been too long since the decision was made to seek it be changed by the courts, it can be said that since you were not in receipt of LTD at the time, and policy only affects you since being reinstated, you only now have cause for questioning the legality of that decision. The key, is to find someone, such as yourself, who voluntarily signed up for SISIP before it was mandatory and the policy was for life, and then was changed without your knowledge prior to your medical release.
