Thank you rucksack for relieving our worries about RR. I could feel in his words and title that something was amiss.
I want him to know that his poems (words) have help many that are struggling. I myself have found strength when I didn't understand or didn't know something but always found peace when reading his words.
His words are powerful and you can feel that it comes from the heart. A great man of many talents.
No matter what........stay well and be strong. You are the sunshine behind those poems.

Thanks for that great poem RR, my brother. You too Rusty. One can never know the pride of being in the military. One can also never understand the pain of being asked to leave before ones time.

Well there my fellow VETERAN community it took me a bit to digest my Good Friends poem, like always just simply amazing, had to catch my breath, ok now, my first reaction was his he ok, second to call him asap which I just did. So we just chated and all is good at his end thank god. I received a few calls and e-mails right away with concern for ROBBIE ROYAL and I can ensure you all he will be back soon, like most of us He needs a little R&R HOW IRONIC those two letters. Steve your are the Definition of a Vet, and brother what you have brought to my table and others, there is no amount of money can buy that,as you are pricless. Now enjoy your R&R there is many here to take roll call. RUCKSACK031 over but never out

Very touching RR. I have a special place in my heart for poems like this one.
Your talent is amazing and give so much strength to so many. Amazing that even you are suffering but still reaching out.

Keep on writing as you help others deal with so much pain.

Stay strong

I know this may have little to do with SISIP but it does have a lot to do with you brave veterans here on CSAT as many of you have had to endure way too much in the past 6 months. I see it in your posts and I feel it in your stories and i hope that what I do allows you all to feel more alive and less alone in your world of physical or emotional pain.
I thank each and everyone for listening and reading my thoughts as I too felt needless and unmotivated to be the veteran i should have been, now with the names here we all are needed and true veterans and heroes to all.

Roll Call

From the moment I was first conceived
The price of living was death relieved
A sordid pace I would endure so well
To hasten my torment into a living hell
For I lived to elude those morals so deep
Never to display weakness not ever a peep

Places of wonderment so adorned with pride
In unison we marched stride for stride
We endured the rigors of weather and soil
Served in places calm or teeming of roil
Watched our brothers come and go
Through the gates they departed where we did not know

The vocabulary and comradery a soldier inherits
Denounce all things emotional minus his warrior merits
The degree for which he is spared disgrace
Is not by the distance but by his pace
The soldier is identified by his name
And quickly forgotten when filled with shame

Pain and misery two words so far apart
Where one ends the other will start
The signs and symptoms visibly seen
Unlike the internal scar invisible and clean
For those that suffer in silence they weep
Their injuries measured by the volumes they do not seep

Hidden deep my horrors enwombed
A vivid recollection of truths consumed
My story unwritten not yet told
For the vain forsake those yet consoled
They the evil that claw and shred deep inside
Reap the harvest of my wounded soldiers’ pride

Where I once stood among ranks of men
A respected brother a warrior a friend
No longer will I march to be my best
The weight of these struggles heavy upon my chest
My ability to succeed and openly compete
Has come full circle and now I retreat

Then came a day one remembers well
I asked for liberation from my living hell
Yet when I questioned my soldier skills
The therapeutic response given a regiment of pills
Even then my story denied
I felt destroyed so empty inside

Year upon year I dared not let go
My rank my name was all anyone would know
It registered not what I had to gain
After all I the warrior fueled my own needless pain
It came in time that it mattered less at what I had lost
But to feel alive and give back at no cost

So in my hand I hold a pen
To share my victory to veteran and friend
It matters not what rank I hold
For in my name my story will be told
For those who suffer and live by creed
Open your souls it is never too late to bleed.

Answer the call,
Robinson SG, Veteran
