Its on King William Island. One of the first things I did when I got there was trek to Starvation Cove in mid February to see and put my mind and body into the mood of the cold and pain and difficult going Frankln had to survive a winter. With that Id better know where he could have landed his ships as Starvation cove was only know point of his dead sailors who were found years before as they tried to trek across ice to mainland to walk to Hudsons Bay out post far to the south. They all died at Starvation Cove. Its a good point to back track from to ships.

He was iced in at Joe Haven and named it Joe Haven after his ship the Joe and it was his Haven. It is same place I suspected Franklin used to weathering the ice. It was his first stop.

ya i that is really cool that must have been a great time.now i dont recall the two main places he stoped was joe haven the finish point ore was that where he got iced in for a couple of years?

Right on Propat it was 1903-06. I was doing it from memory of mid 80s when I lead an expedition to look for Franklins Ships and started my treak out of Joe Haven.

Amundson did compleat the passage it was late 18s early 19s.

Did you mean North West Passage or North East? you said East....I assume you mean the famous one West. Everyone and his dogs been through the East passage.
American Ice Breaker late 50s i think. I guess I could wiki it.

I also believe Amundson Dutch Sailor did in late 17s with the ship the Joe which Joe Haven is named after where his ship took shelter. But im not sure that is a certified full passage through.
