Re: Srb being eliminated
I understand why getting such an answer would be frustrating. It's as if the people who are replying, think that Veterans are idiots, and will accept whatever BS answer they are fed. But I would argue that many on here, are far better informed than at least 50% of VAC staff, if not more. We know that the SRB will be paid out, we just don't know when, but the people that should actually be able to give us the answers, don't even realize what the question is being asked.

The only thing we don't know, is when it will be paid out. It's as simple as that.
Forget asking questions through My VAC Account. Forget asking your CM, forget asking the front line staff.
It'll get paid, when it gets paid.
I have read the legislation and know it will be paid out but "when" was the question I asked. I have not had a CM for 5 years so kind of hard to ask. IMHO, Bruce, you need to smoke a joint as you are bent out of shape man.
Actually Bruce is right. I posted back a few days ago about all the BS and speculation about this topic and people talking out of their ass.
Unless Rex works for VAC I take his advice as hear say, per speculation and bull shit.
Oh and Bruce if your going to spark up a big fat one, please invite me over.

Re: Srb being eliminated
This is the response I received from VAC today regarding my question:
Questioned asked: Hello,
As of 1 April 2019 the "SUPPLEMENTARY RETIREMENT BENEFIT" has
been canceled as part of the "New Pension for Life" program.
Can you please tell me when this benefit will be paid out to
those of us that qualify for the SRB?
Thank you
Answer received: Dear
Thank you for using My VAC Account and our secure email services.
The Retirement Income Security Benefit (RISB) does not exist
under the new Pension For Life program nor does the Retirement
Supplementary Benefit (RSB). If you had turned 65 before March
31, 2019 , you would have to apply for the RISB and RSB and there
was no guarantee you would be eligible for the program. Under
the Pension for Life program, you will transition seamlessly
to the 70% rate on your 65th birthday.
Every Veteran’s circumstance is personal and unique. The Pension
Act did not provide needed support, such as well-being and rehabilitation
programs, to a majority of Veterans prior to 2006. The Pension
Act was designed after the First World War (1919) and did not
consider individual circumstances or provide for a full range
of rehabilitation and well-being programs that support Veterans
and their families.
As a result of strong advocacy work by Veterans and Veterans
organizations regarding Pension Act’s limitations, the Government
recognized the need for change to meet the evolving needs of
the new generation of CAF members and Veterans. Consequently,
a consensus emerged for real reform.
The comprehensive package of benefits and services—enhanced in
Budgets 2016 and 2017— offer Veterans and their families the
help they need to transition successfully from the military to
life after service by focusing on their long-term well-being
and mental health.
The Government of Canada recognizes the contributions and sacrifices
of Veterans. Thank you for your service and we encourage you
to continue to make your needs known to the Department. If you
have any further questions or concerns, please contact us again
via My VAC Account or our toll-free number 1-866-522-2122.

Re: Srb being eliminated
Dave, we will get the money, it's already been budgeted for. It's just a matter of when, and unfortunately, nobody at VAC, that we can actually talk to, has a clue. Even the MVA probably has no idea, because he is brand new, and learning the ins and out of VAC is a difficult task, in normal circumstances, so I can imagine taking over in the midst of changing legislations, must be a Clusterf**k. But yet the real decision makers, the ones who know what the plan is, the deputy ministers, are walled off from Veterans, by the bureaucracy.

Re: Srb being eliminated
Front line agent dont have the info and says whatever, this cause anxiety and stress. I would think it will be easy to post on their website an update but this SRB thing I give them 0/10 for communication. Plus we are talking a few thousands dollars.
this is non sense.

Johnny that reply sounds like they are still going off the original policy and didn't bother to look at the changes that are happening with it.

Re: Srb being eliminated
Hi All. Got this today after asking for a second time.
I apologize for the discrepancies. Since you have the "Diminished
Earning Capacity" and are unable to engage in suitable employment,
a taxable lump sum payment will be provided once you reach 65.
VVV...
