Re: Sexual Harassment Settlement
Contact the law firm for the answer. I know I received $5000 recently from this lawsuit. But there are 3 different areas of compensation for this lawsuit - A, B and C. So only one of those is seeing the $5k. The other ones will have to wait until 2022 for settlement. So yes, some have received 5k but they could get more in 2022.

Seems like the old left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing trick......no different than VAC staff.

This tweet is public, so I don't believe I am infringing on anyone's rights? I can't cut and paste.
She claims she has received her payout. I don't believe she is a plaintiff....if she is...perhaps they have received their payment?

Sexual assault initial payouts
I queried when the initial payment of $5,000 would be paid. The person who I will post below said that the government has not given the money out yet. That is why there has been no initial payments. What the hell?

Re: Sexual Harassment Settlement
I read that one class member received their "payout?" The person did not mention which category or how much. This was the 3rd week of Feb. 2021.
So it is one of two....either the payout was for $5,000.00 or they received a higher amount. If the person received a higher amount it could be for unspecified reason(s) and or an isolated case.
I can understand why they would want to wait until all the claims and processing is finalized, because without any idea how many claims they could/will receive and they have a limit that they cannot go over (albeit a very high limit), I would do the same if I were in charge of disbursements.

Re: Sexual Harassment Settlement
Hi rmsclk,
My spouse hasn't received any money from this class action suit as of yet. This is the latest email from the person that has responded to her questions.
"Full payment of the compensation for Categories B and/or C cannot be delivered to claimants until after all claims are fully processed. Class members have until November 24, 2021 to submit claims, and it will take several months after this date to complete processing for all claims submitted.
Right now, the Administrator is issuing initial payments of CAD$5,000 to all claimants who have an approved class action claim – whether it is Cat. A, B and/or C. An exact date cannot be provided for this payment.
This Assessor Decision that was sent to you does not include your Category A decision, which is sent separately.
If you have any questions about this email, please contact our office at 1-888-626-2611, Monday through Friday, between 9am and 9pm EST, or via email at info@caf-dndsexualmisconductclassaction.ca.
Accurate claims processing can take a significant amount of time. We appreciate your patience."

Re: Sexual Harassment Settlement
Letter was received by email. I believe that my spouse requested correspondence by email. The was for her "B1" claim. She still hasn't received a decision for her "A" claim.

Re: Sexual Harassment Settlement
My spouse received a reply to her claim this week. She was approved for B1 ($5,000) and they also asked for her direct deposit information. In the correspondence they indicated that the Administrator would be contacting her with a decision on her A claim. I suspect that the A claim will also be approved for $5,000. The letter did indicate that the claim amount could go up or down by 15% depending on the amount of claims under B & C. For A claims, if approved, would be for an up front and final amount of $5,000. As she receives more information I will pass it along.

Thank you for your comments Umbrella001. Would you be able to shine a little more light on the process (in general terms)? When you say "approved" does that mean adjudicated/approved? In my limited understanding there is an "initial verification" and then a "full verification/full assessment" and then approval or denial. I also have the understanding that those "approved" get an initial payout of $5,000.00 (not sure if cat A receive this) with the remainder subj to the total amount of claims.
Thanks,
Riddick
