I received the maximum lump sum under the NVC as some here may know...at age 31.
I'm now 35...
10 years of compensation! Nice! (I'm being very sarcastic)
That's okay...I only missed ten years of military service by 56 days. No big whoop. Who needs a pension of any sort anyways.
Weeee!

Someone doesn't have to be that old Jeff. If a Vet had just $2000 dollars deducted per month, it would only take 10 years of retro to bring the base amount to $240000 plus a ton of interest. it adds up fast.

Settlements in this range approach more then half of the NVC lump sum. So if you are receiving $298,000(lump sum buyout maximum), then you must be now in your seventies, and clawed back since 1967. Wowsers!

When I got my SISIP LTD approved, my check was just shy of $6000. I signed the back and my daughter took it to the bank and deposited it instantly at the Bank of Nova Scotia. Just goes to show you their is no standard.

One thing that is overlooked here about standard bank procedures on checks.
All checks, even GoC checks, have a hold period. With GoC checks over $5000 banks call a 1-800 number for verification and picture ID is required.
Even line of credit and certified checks have a hold. Counterfeiting all kinds of checks out there is so easy with these new state of the art scanner/printers.
So patience is required. I'm starting to sound like a broken record about being patient aren't I? LOL
Another thing I would like to bring up is commenting on the CSAT about the range/size of your retro. VVi has already had a few emails about investors wanting to help veterans. So the con-men, griffters, thieves are out and about.
That said let's keep check amounts to a minimum for our own protection ok?

In no way did I mean any disrespect to any of those still waiting, as far as I am concerned everyone should have their funds by now. SISIP could have/should have hired more staff to get this done. My only point was that depending on where one is and what financial institution they deal with there very well could be 5-10 day wait before funds are released. To certify each cheque would have costed only $10-15 dollars each. No need for anyone to get nasty, we are all in this together but we are also entitled to our opinion of this law firm, mine is not that high but do respect those that feel differently. I am hopeful that all get good news soon regarding your settlement so you can move forward with your lives. Respectfully.

I'm sorry, but voicing an opinion, even if different than others does not deserve having insults thrown at you by other Vets. O2 stepped up and offered apologies, so now the same should be done by Hamford, who posted that he supported this behavior. Yes, certified cheques would have been nice to be used, just to avoid hassles on our end, but not a necessity, as we have posted several ways to get the money without any unnecessary delays by your bank. Also, I do not think that RCN meant any disrespect to those still waiting, as anyone of us would be glad to put this lawsuit in our rear view mirror.
