O2, no need to be a nasty bastard...RCN is entitled to his opinion of said law firm, and BTW, he's right.

I agree the cheques should have been certified, it is totally ridiculous in this day and age that large dollar amount cheques are sent without. But this law firm that so many rave about are doing all they can to save a buck so as they make as much as possible from us. Greed, is what it is about it would not have been that costly nor very hard to send certified cheques. I am so glad I am done with this law firm, unless they figure a different angle to get money from me even after the settlement.

Ok friends, going off grid until we get internet at our new home (not new but new to us) ~ will be thinking of you all and hoping you get good news during the interim.
Also, side note, TD bank put a hold on retro cheque minimum a week, even though we are good standing clients ~ we were advised that they have seen a couple of these checks come into the bank branch and are having difficulty getting them varified by the Bank of Nova Scotia in Halifax. They also stated that the cheques should have been sent certified for the amounts that they have seen in the branch. So please be prepared to wait it out ~ hoping your bank will not put holds but the TD is. Bye for now amigos......Sparrow

Some times I think aim in the wrong group when you talk about getting 6 or more years back, when I thought the first fight was just getting the 24 months owed because of zero sum, man I wish I was in the loop

I just received my retro today ~ I can not say how pleasantly surprised I was at the amount. Without going into exact numbers, I was med released Feb 2006 as a Cpl, no superannuation due to less than 10 years service, only CPP D and DVA ~ I was not expecting to be in the bracket group on this thread with net amount but I was. Legal fees where in my opinion more than fair ~ taxes were very high ~ I just wanted you to know for your own peace of mind and I know there are a few members in my release date time frame who were wondering about their return amounts. If you have any specific questions I can answer them via pm. Hang in there friends, it will be worth the wait in the end.
