Re: Pain Relief
Seadog, as Danny suggested, I am almost always available to meet for coffee, unless I have appointments. So even though I do not have PTSD, I do have depression, and have also contemplated suicide. So I get where you are coming from, and can always lend an ear. You have taken the first step, which is often the hardest, and have reached out and let someone know you are struggling

Re: Pain Relief
But in all seriousness, we will prevail! They made it clear to the Canadian public that there was an issue with the Department of Veterans Affairs. They are reopening closed offices and getting everyone up to speed.
Let us continue to grow in numbers and get the word out, so if things haven't changed we will know just by our own individual experience with VAC, just as a small percentage of the Veterans population on this site.
So far I have experienced ZERO change

Re: Pain Relief
Bigrex, Navrat, Bin Rat, Seadog and there are a few others on here including myself, we all need to get together in person for a coffee and discuss our issues with voices instead of keystrokes. There are little birdies reading our post apparently, tweet, tweet.
It is a whole new world now that we are all starting to connect by social media and GOC now will be scrutinized to the maximum.
Lest we forget that they made their Promises to us Veterans, we just listened and voted for what we believed was the best for Vets.

Re: Pain Relief
My friend I went to the Crosbie house and got sober here in NS. That was my first step, but like you, I am going through the motions, except no headaches in the morning and a way clearer mind.
Have some MMJ prescribed to cut the edge off and as a distraction.
Do not give up hope, I haven't yet and it has been since 1998 buddy.

Re: Pain Relief
At the end of my rope here....for almost 8 years ihave been dealing with severe ptsd....abandoned all of my life long friends and now have none. been self medicating with alcohol alone in my basement for 8yrs and can't believe i am still here. My psycholigest has givin up on me since i have refused to talk about anything related. he calls me the king of avoidance. I have since been seeing a phycitrast who just follows up to make sure the meds are not causeing side effects. but the reality is i am just going through the motions so the checks keep coming to pay the rent and child support since am am far from employable. Deep down i want my wife to leave me so i can become another statistic of the macdonald bridge. my sgt killed himself a few yrs ago, i questionedit for sometime but now i think i see why....this is not a suicide note....just loosing faith and hope....walk of shame is coming up soon...fr what? so i can continus to drinkmelf asllepforanother year? sorry all. i'm sure i will passout after a few more beer, and then repeat again tommorow, and the next day. things on my mind i cant say anywhere esle because people dont get it. this seems like the only site where people do get it. i just don;t know any more. lost. sooo this is my life. please don't reply to this. i just needed to say it somewhere.

Re: Pain Relief
Had a follow up and I'm not amused. Told the specialist today it was 20% better for 3 days.
Want's to re-assess in 2 months followed by another shot. I had a total of 3 that don't work, just a song and dance.
Think I'll walk away from that nonsense, keep taking less pain pills, find an infra-red heat lamp teen mentioned somewhere and keep accepting left-overs. Pain is my... friend

Re: Pain Relief
Hey Sapper Zodiak, the Facet joint Rhizotomy you had done did they BURN the nerves?
A rhizotomy is a procedure as opposed to a chemical injection right?
Coulda swore the attending doc mentioned rhizotomy with the cortico's injected.
Anyway, my pain is down 20% but not the symptoms/numbness.
That said, think I'll still pass on a lobotomy...
Cheers

Re: Pain Relief
I had Lidacain injections for my back at the pain clinic, and they has absolutely effect. The pain specialist refused to continue with the treatments. He said said poking me, for the sake of poking me, was senseless.

Re: Pain Relief
I am awaiting injections at the pain clinic here in Nanaimo, BC. It took me since last May to get in. Hopefully soon I can get some relief. I've had injections before and also a Facet joint Rhizotomy done, which lasted for a time. I hope to try everything else to avoid surgery.

Re: Pain Relief
This is great stuff to hear! Like the "Alpha Stims" you mention Dove and the initial Hooey reluctance you had about it. Reminds me of TENS machines for some reason.
I think the naturopath route has generally improved since the mid 90's. But even if some of these things may be covered under POC benefits, I'm leary (or stubborn).
Read.... buyer beware.
Doing ones research like Trooper mentioned is one thing, jumping on a bandwagon is quite another. I refrain from the latter and just wait for the medicinal verdicts.
Bigrex, your line sprang out to me also. Walking around like a zombie. Did it for many, many years, and there really ain't no end to it...
so I figure, cut my losses, take the pain in the teeth (whooa) and if my life...style isn't rosey well, at least I'm not fertilizing them yet!
Been doing that for quite a while now (v.hard), but not the fertilizing part.
You are my peers and you have my respect. pinger.

Re: Pain Relief
Good form folks! The wisdom here is comforting. No one wants to be a zombie/over medicated. The technology may be a thing to try in the near future. Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Pain Relief
Similarly Dove, there is also Neurofeedback treatment which are done by a technician in office usually at the recommendation of Psychologist, Psychiatrist. It is important to note that DVA now covers the cost of this treatment for service related illnesses and injuries.
I can personally state it has helped me. But Dove I am going to look into your suggestion too. Thanks.
