Re: Family Caregiver Relief Benefit
There is 3 legislative requirements
1. Is applicant in receipt of Disability Pension?
2. Is the applicant Totally disabled in accordance with table guidelines?
3. Is the applicant in need of attendance? (feeding, bathing, toileting, dressing, bathing, medication administration)
If any of the 3 requirements are NOT met then applicant does not meet eligibility and entitlement to Attendanxe allowance and MUST be denied

Yes Peep, they will say that if you are even partially covered by the Pension Act, that you will need to apply for the Attendance Allowance.

Re: Family Caregiver Relief Benefit
The pamphlet we received says "fill out form" Just a play on "applying"
Also, the form I filled out asks about ADLs with yes or no boxes and asks if we received FCRB. My guess is they will see the box, double check if we actually received it and not even pull the file.....

Re: Family Caregiver Relief Benefit
The concern is the constant use of the word “apply” in reference to all veterans currently in receipt of the FCRB. No mention in any documents or Q & A about a transition to the Caregiver benefit from the FCRB. When “apply” shows up on all documents it leaves avenues for VAC to deny deny deny. Guess we will have to wait and see if the process of “applying” is as smooth as they make it out to be for current FCRB recipients.

QUESTION
Yump5555 wrote:On the VAC website. Under the new benefits for 2018 Section.
Is this the Q&A you are referring to? If so, it is consistent messaging that one has to complete the application, but if you read the brochure, it is to get the Caregiver Info as well as any updated info; it's not saying you have to "re-qualify". I don't read too much into this one...in that way. If the medical info changed, then they might look at it as a whole different ball-game.

FCRB and CRB
Yump5555 wrote:I received the same info sheet a few months back. However when I called today I was provided completely different information and the Q&A section states that ALL must reapply. I hope that no veterans currently receiving the FCRB are denied the new Caregiver benefit.
Where is the Q&A?

FCRB ROLLOVER TO CRB
Yump 5555 et al,
Not sure why they would give you the information that you have to re-qualify. I am in receipt of a brochure VAC sent me about a month ago discussing my FCRB rollover to CRB. I do have to complete the application for the purpose of giving my caregiver info and updating any medical information - the brochure states"Given you already receive the FCRB and your health needs have not changed, you would qualify for this benefit.
Attaching the brochure.

Re: Family Caregiver Relief Benefit
Do you find it concerning that the FCRB and Caregiver benefit have the same eligibility requirements but depending on what the mood the adjudicator is in it is possible to be denied the new benefit even after receiving and being approved initially for the FCRB. They might even require new medical information or testing. This in my opinion is unacceptable. More work for the adjudicators that are already overloaded and behind thousands of applications for everything else.
