Re: PIA
Thank you Trooper ~ keeping positive thoughts for those still waiting for their decision.
On the note about the pension office, do we have to notify the pension office about LTD benefits? or is it only CPPD benefits that need to be reported to the pension office?

Re: PIA
Well, I asked about a PIA reassessment and my CM told me to print off an application, sign it and send to her, and that she would get the ball rolling. She also said that there is more than enough medical evidence in my file to support my request, so there should be no major hold ups. Only time will tell though.
But honestly, any time they make changes to the PIA criteria, VAC should be going back and looking at those applications that were denied to see if they now qualify, and looking at all the PIA recpients to see if they are getting the correct level of PIA. It shouldn't be left on the shoulders of the Veterans to resubmit their application every time a change is made.

Re: PIA
Sapper, on pg. 5 of this thread Teen posted...
“Permanent Impairment Allowance (page 4238
http://publications.gc.ca/gazette/archives/p1/2005/2005-12-17/pdf/g1-13951.pdf)
To recognize the impact that a severe and permanent impairment has on
lost employment and career advancement opportunities and to compensate
Canadian Forces Veterans for these losses “
Also, for that new PIA initiative, they tweaked their policy document effective July 1. 2015. That relaxes the PIA eligibility guidelines as I understand it.

Especially half way down the page under Definition in Policy.
Good luck to you on Friday firebird.

Re: PIA
Thanks gang. I was having a re-assessment of my PTSD anxiety chronic pain etc (rehab program). with BC OSI Psychiatrist, and the info was finally gathered on Jan. 18/16. I was also in Psycho therapy every week since May, but now only every second week. So...maybe things will speed up now. Used to waiting but was hoping the new PIA initiative put in place by now. If I am not approved, I really have no clue what the PIA is for. Not lost earning potential/career opportunities?

Re: PIA
My decision is made this Friday. I applied in April of 2015 and I am at the second level of review. Sapper if you are still at the initial stage of the PIA application process then something wrong has happened because a decision on the initial application must be done in 12 to 16 weeks.

Re: PIA
The main theme is fulfilling the Liberals promises at all cost and the MVA's is to fulfill his mandate letter. That hasn't waivered, so let us praise up the Ministers for keeping the cat in the bag.

Re: PIA
No, there is a reason they are holding off on the PIA. I haven't received it as well and VAC is full of surprises and will wait for the budget. March 22nd! The count down is on and they better get it right! They are the ones who are saying it, not us. So, giving them until march 22nd and going from there is what we do, but for now stay well and family before all else.

Re: PIA
Sapper...that's too long for any benefit to be dealt with...hopefully with the already announcing of hiring more staff things will be dealt with much faster.
Hopefully.
