Sleep apnea consequential to chronic pain and medications

SAP, I have a CPAP machine due to my pensionable medical conditions and as Teen has indicated VAC pays for the masks, hoses, etc. etc. and new machine every 5-8 years. Or if the one you have becomes inoperable and cannot be repaired they buy a new one. I get a new mask about every 3 months, have had to get new power cord, hose, water tank, mask cleaner, filters and all have been covered by VAC. Was a bit of a challenge at first but has worked pretty well for past several years. Still think it silly that I have to visit Dr. once a year to get a prescription but if that is what the clown department have to have so be it.

Well VAC took over paying for my cushions, head gear new maching every 5/8 years so I can't see them not paying for it. If you have B coverage on your VAC parts should be covered.

As for the consequential claim??? The CM should have some ideas if not just ask which specialist do you want to write the report....cardiologist, resperologist, rhumetologist???

Actually I have a cpap machine, courtesy of sisip. I have it due to OSA from chronic pain meds, for my VAC pensioned condition. I was wondering if it was a covered consequential disability, through VAC, so I could get new masks etc without trying to claim it through sisip. Like I said...just wondering, as it has taken on a life of its own. Consequentially, I have several cardiac episodes each night, and wondered if anyone has claimed it as a VAC disability? No matter what, I need it and have it. Thanks Teen.

Well Sapper if the meds you needed or injury you have has caused weight gain then you can ask about a consequential claim/approval for a BIPAP or CPAP machine.

If VAC does say no then you can use the provincial program to help get your machine. I have sleep apnea and the service provider has told me just about every province has a program to help people get one.

Is there anyone out there with very severe OSA(obstructive sleep apnea) due to chronic pain and medications taken to combat same? Anyone made a claim as consequential to VAC approved disability? Just curious. I m meeting with my new CM on wednesday and want to cover all bases. Let me know if and how VAC has helped with the OSA. Thanks.
