Re: PTSD Anyone have success from claim/appeal ?
I signed the forms to have my wife as the official contact for all matters VAC. She is now MY case manager and handles all appointments etc. She said; "I just have to show up to my scheduled appointments and she would take care of the details". Things are rolling and shaking now. More accomplished in 3 months than any other time in history!!

That might be your best course of action Wild Thing....give someone, your wife, the power of authority to represent you on your behalf when dealing with VAC.
One thing for you to remember is vocational rehab is just not for you. Your wife can use it to further her own career or some other career.

OK wild thing. You seem to know yourself and are tired of fighting. I don't blame you for the trust thing. VAC and SISIP have both done very little for us due to the insurance policy mentality. They just don't want to give, as it seems this is their money. Wrong. Your money...blood money. Continue your own personal journey as you see fit. We stand with you in your decisions and are not here to judge. Just offering our own versions of a similar story. It took me 26 years to get to rehab. Perhaps in the future if you are in a better place, you may look into it again. Find an advocate or someone that can speak to VAC on your behalf, address your concerns and re-apply for ELB etc. Maybe a one-time visit to a psychiatrist would help get you in? Take care.

Re: PTSD Anyone have success from claim/appeal ?
I have been on my own for to long before I even heard of ptsd/osi I suffered from it. I have been tortured and maimed by my regiment on purpose then physically and mentally abused by sisip then more mind fking by va/vrab my first socializing was 5 years ago when we bought a trailer in a park then I found csat and realized I was not alone and could quit blaming myself. I will never trust them or allow them to tell me what to do again I swore they would never cause me anymore pain both mentally or physically ever again there is no way I will ever give into this as I have fought hard to get to where I am right now. Some people can do this and that is great for them, some cannot I am one of those who cannot. I know you's are just trying to help and I am just trying to explain that the trust will never be there and I am trying to get this through va heads. Should another veteran die because they have to jump through hoops their not mentally ready for NO!!! ELB first gain their trust let them know they are there to help. I will personally never ever trust them.

wild thing I don't know who you are seeing about your condition or conditions but if you are seeing the right people to match your goals your rehab just might be ;; just keep seeing the people you are seeing ;;.
was part of a few from the PA that got accepted for rehab at about the same time and this what the rehab was for some .
we had to fight just to get the applications it was just nuts . when we took the sideways route and printed them off and sent them in the CM would squash them before they got looked at and call us to tell us so. it wasn't easy buds seriously every e-mail or registered letter sent to her showing her VIA stuff pulled directly from DVAs own website that PA guys were entitled to ELB as well was just ignored .I mean it was just insanity .
in the end it all worked out we jumped through all the hoops and we are all better off because of it.
get er done buds keep fighting at your own pace this thing is by no means a sprint and can turn into quite a marathon but in the end can be very much worth the time.

Wild thing, please listen to Rex here. I am in the rehab program now for the past 3 months, starting month four. I am in medical/psycho-social rehab. I see a therapist in the city weekly(psychologist), weekly massage, and monthly trips to the psychiatrist at BC OSI clinic. That is all. I am awaiting the pain clinic for injections and a custom brace made by a physiatrist. It has been good getting the demons exercised. The pros they have now are very knowledgeable and kind. BC Operational Stress Injury Clinic is only for military and mounties. Please reconsider jumping through this hoop. You may come out a new person. Take care.

Wild thing. rehab doesn't just mean school. It could be for you to attend an OSISS, or even such programs such as a therapy dog or equine therapy. But you have to be approved for the rehab program, before they will even consider ELB or PIA. I understand that it is frustrating, but if in the end, you are getting the ELB, and possibly the PIA, and improve your financial situation, the frustration is worth it

Rehab: will not participate cannot take the chance of releasing the demon talked it over with the wife and we agreed. Just talking to the cm and her refusal to be strait forward with me has had a very negative effect ruined my weekend and still effects me today cannot shrug it off and cannot let them control my life when ever they desire. I will write a letter that I want to go right to the top requesting elb without rehab do to my age and injuries and to be left alone I have earned that right.

Re: PTSD Anyone have success from claim/appeal ?
Yes Supreme I have already been in it for 35 years, the old you is gone you can never get the old you back I don't care what anybody says I have tried for years this much I have figured out. I am now trying to figure out who I want the new me to be, who I can be, and what I can put up with. My biggest hurdle for years is sisip, va/vrab, it has been for many many years the bast--ds try to control and keep control of every part of your life. What they don't understand or just don't care about is the freedom we need to forget, we need to be left alone I don't want to be a soldier anymore. I don't even want to be a vet. I am not proud to be ether one just the way I feel been through to much, but they wont let me quit, forget, and move on. All I want them to do is pay me what is owed me because I am to crippled up from military service to work,And then just leave me the fk alone.

Re: PTSD Anyone have success from claim/appeal ?
johnny 211 no pictures or anything to remind me of service life, destroyed it all when ptsd was at its worst dont regret it one bit. I do regret ever joining the military ,not being able to enjoy my passions for hunting and fishing, camping, atving, snowmobiling etc etc. being tortured mentally physically by sisip, mentally tortured by va,vrab, that little island and my dog gave me comfort and really helped me when I needed it most. sisip surplus last year 14.5 billion manulife surplus 352 billion. VA/VRAB eating up veterans money screwing all who served this country. We all need a little island to help us keep some resemblance of sanity.

Re: PTSD Anyone have success from claim/appeal ?
wildthing - I envy you and that little Island. I can say my ptsd and head spacing know exactly what you are talking about. I have days where I just want to throw on the ruck, take my dog also, and hit the woods, or road and disappear. Prob like me, you all look back at old crse, ex, deployed pics, and wonder where that young, strong , full of piss and vinager soldier went.
But at the end of the line, here we all are fighting the same goverment for years. We went and did what we where asked, and all we ask now is too be looked after, mentally and physically. We get bitter, real bitter. And I also will not encourage any young person to take the same path. DVA may change, it may improve, but I have my doubts. Just this old Sigs Pigs thought for today.

Re: PTSD Anyone have success from claim/appeal ?
I totally agree , who wants to spend the rest of their days fighting for benefits.
This is where the media comes into play , the more the media reports on Veterans who once again are forced to fight again an again , the more the public gets educated.
It would be a bit different if only the combat troops were sent into harms way , but the whole forces are subject to answer the call at anytime , so it's the whole forces who should be looked after upon being medically released , an I don't mean years of fighting to be approved for benefits.

Re: PTSD Anyone have success from claim/appeal ?
I turned 56 yesterday two buddys and my son took me to my favourite lake for a little rainbow fish. there is an island on the lake where i used to camp just me and my dog for weeks on end it was where i escaped and suffered with my ptsd and injuries in peace. No pressure no irritations just silence and personal thought. I went to the island and they fished the lake I wanted to enjoy it one last time doubt if I will ever return my injuries with time have become to crippling. Can hardly move this morning pain is so intense, my thought while alone on the island was we have lost so much serving our country why wont they compensate us for our sacrifice why not an automatic pension on medical release at a rate of the average canadian salary, why do we have to fight for any compensation as veterans, why are we putting up with this, and why are we not warning young Canadians from joining, we should be sitting out in front of all recruiting centers across Canada and warning all who enter. until they change the way veterans are treated. wish i had one near me i would be there daily handing out information and warning young men and women just what kind of abuse and poverty they are in for if they become injured in service of their Country. We cannot turn back time and protect ourselves but we can protect the young men and women from making the biggest mistake of their lives and draw attention to the problem at the same time. I will make sure the local high school students get fliers this fall telling them the situation with disabled veterans and to not consider the armed forces as a career because there is no upside to serving.
