I believe you are correct in one aspect Trooper - momentum.
Given the GoC's dismal record in our affairs over the last 10 years or so, esp. the last few and with an upcoming election, is it any wonder the GoC is giving the new MVA exlax? The writing is on the wall, clear as day.
Kinda like systemic failures and an apathetic demeanor towards veterans get crunched through statistical analysis and you get... a GoC come to Jesus moment. Hence we have, exlax this year! I feel Minister O'Tooles intentions are sincere but does anyone else hear the Vancats serenading us a bad rendition of Kumbaya in the background?

Hey prawn, do pigs shyte when they fly? My budgie does, but he's my best buddy.

Stay well all, you are my peers. pinger.

I think you will see things move quickly on this one guy's.

Things are changing - and changing fast.

How is that for being optimistic.

Well I was told that they expect to have the bill passed before mid summer. So it should be written up by end of the month and presented to the floor of the HoC by mid April. Don't hold this to be true it's just my opinion.

Here is a question - Does anyone know when we can expect the RISB to be fully written up for approval ?

Well, Mike also said that he PIA was deducted from the CSIB, and we know that that is untrue. Honestly, I haven't seen any reference to the PA pension in any of the charts, or explanations about the RSIB, so I think that at this point, it is merely speculation.

Well to me the basics of how this RIBS is to read is out there to view, teen has asked questions and was given answers, and posted it here for all to view.

Now the full deal has to be written up, and I am going to guess that they are looking at every question asked, and are taken a hard look as to how they go about writing this up, I think it has to be written in a way that answers the multiple what if's.

If you read this part of the article - "But veterans advocates say the income calculation does appear to include the lifetime pain-and-suffering pensions that were replaced by the lump-sum payments when the Charter came into effect. Those are given to veterans injured prior to 2006, many of whom will face tough times at age 65 when they lose the long-term disability payments from an insurance plan funded by the Department of National Defence.

Michael Blais, the president of Canadian Veterans Advocacy, spoke with Mr. O’Toole on Thursday and asked the minister whether the pain-and-suffering pensions for older veterans would be deducted from the Retirement Income Security Benefit. It is a question that is also being asked by the Veterans Ombudsman and other veterans group.

“He said, and I quote, ‘we are not looking into that at this time,’ ” said Mr. Blais who said the minister’s vague response left him puzzled and worried".

The other part of the article that's interesting is this -"The Retirement Income Security Benefit he proposed on Monday was designed to help severely disabled veterans who are not eligible for a National Defence pension and who will lose an earnings-loss benefit when they hit 65, leaving them with little income. The proposal would guarantee that their total annual income is equal to at least 70 per cent of the benefits they were making from Veterans Canada before they turned 65".

So I take it that it is designed for those - who are not eligible for a National Defence pension - but also includes those who do receive a National Defence pension ?

Rex, it's on the Facebook page under CVA sitrep and it's about Mike reporting his meeting with MVA and the questions he asked. I don't have Facebook and really ain't that great at explaining it. It's on the right hand side of the Facebook page and it says CVA sitrep, regarding the lawsuit the RISB and deductions from it

Nav, do you have a link to that article, because I just looked at the CVA website, and didn't see anything about the RISB.
