Re: Assorted Merged Stored Topics
Sometimes I wish there were a mandatory treatment plan that cares for us until we are well. Unfortunately, this is not so. I say this because we only ever scratch the surface when getting treatment, and life gets in the way. I can no longer stand public speaking or crowds. It seems the confidence has been sucked out of me. I feel inadequate and unworthy. Having chronic pain makes all of these worse. I received a Diamond Jubilee Medal in November and practically wanted to crawl out on my belly.VAC is a burocracy. Not set up to deal with actual people. There must be something out there that can help.

Re: Assorted Merged Stored Topics
Hi...I think you are missing the message of Sgt.JohnnG maded.I get his sincere points...It's not all about money and revenge..it's about getting us better..I also have many mental diseases I face each day, and without the proper help plan and support, you can not do this alone!..I get when we have out burst of anger and say things that doesn't make sence to the healthy mind...I believe all of "US" are crying out for help and we just don't how to make sence of it! I think part of our deal should also in include the best possible treatment plan available to each deserving Veteran...We need to get happy inside again...You deserve it!!

Re: Assorted Merged Stored Topics
Thanks for the immediate feedback. Great advice from great people! When I lived in Thunder Bay for a bit, I attended a pain clinic. Used infra-red heat therapy too. It worked some for me. Upon moving to Kenora, I have no alternate treatment centres. I did however have some nerves killed in a pain clinic in Winnipeg. I plan on using sisip proceeds to buy a Hot tub and perhaps a new shoulder brace. VAC only covers $450 per year for my wearable hardware. And I am in the last town in Ontario...too far to go to Hammy Legion.

Re: Assorted Merged Stored Topics
Another form of treatment is called NueroFeedback. I can not begin to explain the science behind the process however it has made a significant improvement in my life. Veteran's Affairs covers the cost of all the treatments. There are clinics throughout Canada. Here in Kingston, I know of two clinics one which I attend. Do some research and I hope you consider it for yourself. Sparrow

Re: Assorted Merged Stored Topics
Sapper you should get your GP to refer you to a Pain Clinic. I suffered for years with my back sucking back percocet, valium, sleeping pills like chicklets.
Went to the clinic and started taking shots (freezing like at a dentist), nerve blockers, other pain meds not opiates. It freakn' helps big time! Perc, valium, sleeping pills down big time!
Another thing is use some of the SISIP money and buy an infra red sauna. It's a dry heat that penetrates into the body. It's like wrapping yourself in one huge heating pad. Plus if you get your GP to write a prescription for infra red heat treatments you can claim it on your taxes under medical. Same goes for aqua therapy (hot tub). All in the wording.
You don't need to become a dope fiend to find pain relief. This program I'm on with the pain clinic is not the golden wand but it is helping and I have some of my previous life back.
All the meds I'm on are covered by VAC. And I am trying to get VAC to update their meds, therapy program. We don't need to walk around like zombies!

Re: Assorted Merged Stored Topics
I understand your points and the truth is, everyone is different. When my nerve damaged limb was attached in its socket again and the ligaments retied, the doctors went the extra mile and tied my scapula to my spine with drilled holes and loops of dacron. This holds my damaged arm in socket, but caused chronic pain and more nerve damage. Now my back it really buggered.( I have many other broken parts) My point is the pain. Always. I have been trying to get coverage with VAC for my non-addictive pain pills. They would prefer I use opiates.(pain and brain numbing) I can no longer go for any therapy or massage as "I am not getting better". This is the real battle I must fight now. Oh you are Chronic...too freakin bad. We must change attitudes at VAC for all Vets. Thanks for the vent. Chimo

Lets talk health and recovery - For optimist only- Lets believe there is hope!
My Dear Cyber Friends,
I just want people, once this matter is concluded, to move on.
Money that is owed to us is about to be returned. Many many studies have revealed that even if we have food shelter and toys The problems we all have do not disappear! BTW i know this for a fact!
So what we all need to realize that if its a mental health issue we must seek personal acceptance, awareness and not be in denial/ hide from it!
I am and always will struggle with that ups and downs with this the ins and outs with the cuff and linking ....Well you get my point .
But a man in a wheelchair isn't a life killer....ask Rick Hanson (around the world) .
PTSD doesn't ruin ones life ask Senator Romaine Dalliare Yes I heard once he has 100% VAC for Ptsd (Author General and a politically active senator) ....He really did see the massive murders etc...Sure he is suffering daily ...But he got on the horse and kept kicking ....
Anoither example look at the abuse and BS.. Dennis Manuge has dealt with and let me tell you and he has said it over and over , I am no one special just a ill soldier, father, husband and care giver (Paraphased)
He is coping fighting battles and still functioning! SO Can We!
Lastly I have two good friends who have had major battles with PTSD and one has recovered very well and the other is dealing with Daily Demons!
We can move on we may need support, kindness, the caring of others . Some will cope well by being alone etc etc
Just keep talking and opening up and reaching out . Someone will help you You must help yourself and never give up ! After all we are imperfect humans we aren't dolphins. ( I can hear you! I wish I was at times too)
Giving up is a long term solution to a short term problem
Comments and opinions welcomed
