CF pay increase Empty Canadian Armed Forces Pay and Allowance Increase

Post by Guest Fri 16 Jun 2017, 18:47

Canadian Armed Forces Pay and Allowance Increase

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) announced a pay and allowance increase for CAF members on June 2, 2017. Former members—those who left the Canadian Armed Forces after March 31, 2014—will receive a lump sum back-payment and adjustments to their retirement benefits based on the new rates effective at their release (starting June 30, 2017).

Well, guys, I am back on CSAT at work. There was a couple of years starting in 2014 when the CSAT forum was blocked, after a while I stopped trying to access it. Glad it is back on the DWAN.

[quote="sabrelove"]"Red,

However, when a retro pay increase is done and you are released before it is announced, you do get the backpay and your pension is recalculated.  That is what they did for my hubby when he released. "

Sabrelo: I stand corrected. This is good news for me as I got out at the end of 2015. Will be a small retro/pension adjustment but better than nothing. Thank you!

There shouldn't be a ban!
This forum is here for all ears, from Privates to Generals and to whomever else that is caring, respectful and that's willing to give Canada's Veterans their rightful dignity.
Guessing that the Department of National Defence is having a hard time leading the troops when you start banning  what they have access to.
WOW! Can we begin to say what's happened to our democracy? "Did the rich make up the term "democracy" to keep us peons in place and them in power."
The voting system for the Conservative party is questionable.
The party will not do a recount of the ballots, all though there are errors that were reported at different polling stations across Canada.
IMO, make the population think that they have a say by giving out ballots and then once a party is in power, they hold the blame for all the errors and then when elections come around again; then the same blame is passed on to another party, (which are all a close knit bunch).
Start seeing through the BS folks!
or we will never see financial security for our current soldiers and our wounded.

I am on DWAN without an issue posting this Dannypaj. It could be that the server was busy at the time.

I am curious on what the CANFORGEN says as if it is a pay increase to align us with what PSAC is "tenatively" getting, then CPI is not even a factor as has been announced in previous years.  I'll post the CANFORGEN on Monday  after I get home from work.  CSAT has been banned on DWAN computers.

I am in Trenton and have been posting using my DWAN computer, but am at a lodger unit. What kind of message are you getting when you try to access CSAT?

This is good news for some who may be on ELB though, since with these retroactive increases to the CF pay, it also means that their ELB will also need to be adjusted.

Regarding CF pay increases. All I remember is there was jack-shyte circa early 80's.
Looking back... that extra nickel or dime was so so sweet.

Not much of a pay raise tho. The way they put it makes some people...wow...a 6% increase this year....But of course, it is spread out over 4 years, so not much of an increase at all. It is about the price of CPI. It should be automatic that military pay goes up every year for CPI and not wait years to do it and then back pay it.

Yeay, found the backgrounder announcing both the pay and allowance increase.

https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/news/2017/06/canadian_armed_forcespayandallowanceincrease.html

Pay is announced at 6.2%.  That will be a nice chunk of backpay for those that got out since Apr 14.  And a pension boost to boot for those who get a pension.

Yes you are right Sabrelove. If you qualify for the retro, then your pension will be recaluclated.
