Re: MISCALCULATION ERROR - PENSION 2002 TO 2010--UPDATE ON PAIEMENT
Well folks the letters have started to be sent out on my VAC account, click on the corrective payment letter on front page ...................
Find out about your disability pension corrective payment.
In general, clients who were in receipt of disability pension payments between 2003 and 2010 qualify for a corrective payment.
Notice of corrective payment letter:
Corrective Payment Letter
You will also receive a copy of this letter in your My VAC Account Inbox
Subject: Corrective payment
Your benefits under the Pension Act were incorrectly adjusted between 2003 and 2010, resulting in an underpayment. Pensions and allowances under the Pension Act are subject to an annual adjustment. We incorrectly adjusted these benefits between 2003 and 2010. The adjustment was corrected in 2010 for the 2011 payment year and applied to payments going forward; however, there are outstanding amounts owed. As a result, we wish to inform you that you are entitled to a corrective payment.
Payment information
You will receive a lump sum, tax-free payment of $ . You can expect the payment within two weeks.
In my case i received a 20% pension plus one allowance since 2002 and will get a payment of $551.29
Cheers

Re: MISCALCULATION ERROR - PENSION 2002 TO 2010--UPDATE ON PAIEMENT
Tilap61 - I ask Vac a couple of days ago and got this answer. I don’t know of any of my Vet friends who have received a letter or payment yet.
As my colleague stated there is no letter on your file yet regarding
the Disability Pension Corrective adjustment. At present there
a number of clients that have not received letters outlining
what they will receive for the corrective adjustment. Upwards
of 270,000 Veterans, RCMP members and their survivors were impacted
so it may take some time for all the calculations to be made
and payments processed.
Not all payments will be issued at exactly the same time and
some particularly vulnerable clients will be paid first. Individuals
who currently receive a disability pension will be issued a payment
beginning in September 2019. We will share more information with
those affected as it becomes available.

Re: MISCALCULATION ERROR - PENSION 2002 TO 2010--UPDATE ON PAIEMENT
270 000 veterans pensions were miscalculated during 2003-2010. I would only presume that it was every veteran who received pension payments during that time .

Re: MISCALCULATION ERROR - PENSION 2002 TO 2010--UPDATE ON PAIEMENT
yes so am I , maybe I wasn’t clear I tend to ramble and not separate my thoughts, l was just saying that I’m aware there are 40000 disability claims, not that the two were connected.beyond that I’m not too sure of any other figures, but past or present, does 270,000 sound like “ all” the vets who would be entitled.? Or does 270000 sound like only like the amount of troops are who actually entitled, between 02-10, who knows maybe there are 500,000 vets with PA disability during those yearsPpclicaper wrote:No, but I do believe VAC will not be paying all the veterans that are entitled to the reimbursement all at once .. As stated they will start is September..I figure we will see reimbursement spread over a couple of months at the most.
I believe this is not just for those that got released 2003-2010.. but they were the years the yearly indexing was miscalculated..so the older vets prior to 2003 who were awarded pensions prior to this date .. some have unfortunately passed on .. so when they say 270 000 vets were affected during this time frame .. I see where they can get these #s.. the 40 000 I believe comes from
The amount of veterans that have applied for benefits that are in the system but presently awaiting processing and decisions.
I could be wrong .. like everyone knows VAC is telling us very little .. I am just going off news articles, the legion and what little vac had released

miscalculation error
murph77 wrote:I have not received a letter yet - either in the mail or in my vac account - HOWEVER in my vac account under current payment and benefits their is a new entry listed as Disability Pension Corrective Payment . It states a payment of a little over $800 and states to refer to letter for more info ( don't have letter yet ). Have been on pension since before 2002,
My bank account balance seems to have amount included in the balance but not posted yet.
Seems to me that this payment is for the miscalculation error,
Does anyone else have this in my vac account under current payment and benefits ?

Re: MISCALCULATION ERROR - PENSION 2002 TO 2010--UPDATE ON PAIEMENT
maybe but , does 270000 or whatever the # is, sound like every vet who would have been in that situation during that time, l don’t keep track of those things, all I know is that they say there are 40,000 disability claims currently in the system and during the years of 02-10, about 150000 vets have since died before this “ mistake” ever came to light. I guess maybe they are starting with the vets released 02, then 03, 04 etc. But even if they couldn’t tell a vet what he is getting or when, it would be nice to be given a heads up as to whether or not a person is even be a recipientjohnny211 wrote:Hi unknown Soldier, just went back and read this, I’d say it’s every PA Vet, in those yrs. I was under the impression that EVERY soldier who was under PA from from 03-10 would get something, now I`m hearing it`s only selective files.murph77 wrote:I have not received a letter yet - either in the mail or in my vac account - HOWEVER in my vac account under current payment and benefits their is a new entry listed as Disability Pension Corrective Payment .
