Dental Care --- PTSD/Grinding teeth

I did the detailed coverage for Bruxism, Dental "Abfraction/abrasion", TMJ: Myofascial pain / muscles of mastication on a previous post quite a while ago.
I have all three claims approved and consequential to my Fibromyalgia (Chronic Pain). This is unusual as PTSD is the main claim that is normally the accepted claim.
You have to start these claims asap.
So far I've received braces, mouth guards and an implant. Now all my dental is covered by Blue Cross similar to our Sunlife extended coverage.

I do wish you success. It's a long tough procedure. I believe it was BYTHEBAY who knows exactly how to proceed with this coverage.

No perhaps you are thinking of grounds maintenance.

If you are a B client you should have full coverage. ‘A’ client you’d be covered for treatments related to your condition.

Are you VIP? I had mine covered, through Blue Cross/PSDP, dentist did all the paperwork.

Chaud and sports1977 there is a medical term for teeth grinding due to PTSD, I believe it's called Bruxism. It is a recognized medical term by VAC. So if your doctor/therapist/psychiatrist diagnosis you with it you can apply for the dental mouth guard thru Medavie Bluecross. You will have to get a letter from the medical professional who diagnosed you with Bruxism to back your claim with Medavie. You do not have to go thru VAC to get a daily living aid needed due to a side effect of a pensioned condition.

In the meantime to help save your teeth go to the local hockey sports store and buy a mouthguard. My wife is a grinder and until she got her dental mouthguard she used that. FYI here in Ontario after the dental plan coverage it cost around $250 for a custom made guard. I claimed it on my yearly taxes under the medical expenses.

Good time to remind everyone as tax season is knocking on our door you are allowed $11,500 in medical expenses PER PERSON in your household.

Be prepared for the biggest challenge at Veteran affairs. Teeth coverage under PTSD is weirdly the most difficult to achieve. It seems to me a while back someone gave a detailed approach here. Good luck! After 2 yrs and red-flagged applications, I got nothing more than a rejection.
