Well , I am expecting a large amount, if the person who delivers it does not ask for ID, I will address this to all necessary authorities asap.

The problem is, criminals are very intelligent. If I received a letter stating that in order to receive someone else's cheque, I need to confirm the address. I simply sign it and send it back using the person's name on the letter. MC doesn't know what my signature looks like, so any Joe Blow can sign my name, and that includes when the cheque arrives. When was the last time a courier asked to see proof of identity when dropping something off. Even cashing it wouldn't be a problem, all they would have to do is put it into a bank machine. Sure, it could be eventually traced, but only if the person who was supposed to get the money knows about the lawsuit and reports it.

Tracker, lol. I think you are right, anyone could easily steal the ID of any of us and steal these cheques. it's been done before, ask anyone in the welfare Dept or EI Dept.

Re: Latest
Yes correct ,a signature is required upon receiving your cheque, this checking of address, is just another piece of info that, I think will reassure MC that it is indeed the right person.

Re: Latest
I hope that the letter doesn't say "we need to confirm your address so we can send you your retro cheque" ... whats to stop someone who received it by mistake from replying "Yup, Address good, now send me the cheque"

Re: Latest
Since all cheques require a signature upon delivery, it would be easy to trace.

I think that MC, is doing it this way to cover their a - - ,just imagine sending a large sum of money to the wrong individual, this way if someone claims not to receive it, they can verify what was sent with the address card.Notice that they are not calling for this info, simply, because calling will not verify proof of address, for dispute purposes. I think that they want to get it right, the first time, which is good with me.
