I don't think they can disallow it Navrat because there was a  memo  from MC to CRA and back to MC regarding  the 1198, legal fees et al. It was posted a while back and I cant find it. I believe Sparrow posted it back in the day if I remember correctly. So that being said, CRA acknowledged formally the legal fee deductions being allowed for 2013 taxes during the GoC discussions with the Crown and MC. Anyone else recall this memo?

Update: I found the letter and will post it once I scan it.

I received a letter from CRA today requesting proof in 30 days of the amount for legal fees, They have had my return since Jun 2, called them 11 weeks later to ask what the problem is and they launched an inquire that I was told would take 6 - 8 weeks now this letter so I am assuming that this will take a lot longer.

I am guessing that the more you ask question the longer it will take CRA to get this done.

You might be right Trooper, and it would be nice if sisip ltd did deposit on a regular day just like VAC , when I called awhile back and asked they said it was the second to last Tuesday of every month. Then I called another time and they said its deposited 12 days from the last day of the month? So who knows

Will I be right, or will I be wrong ?

This is what I wrote on Aug 20th,

{ I am going to take a guess, and speculate that the next deposit will be on Friday, Sept 19th.}

The way in which I see it now, is that I have a 50/50 chance of being right.

We will see tomorrow.

Just trying to give those that are new a rough Idea when the payments are deposited.

Finally is right, what a cluster XXXX.

I must admit this whole CRA/1198 ordeal has taken me completely by surprise.

Who would of thought that we have members just getting completed today, and still some awaiting, unbelievable.

Thank XXXX this is a once in a lifetime thing.

Someone should and or must come forward to address this to show accountability, one thing that I know for sure is that the higher ups
are aware of this, what if anything is done about it, remains to be seen.

Rex,

just to let you know, the resolution centre can still help you if you do not have a copy of the 1198,
they can find it within the CRA system, sending it to them via fax, just speeds up their work.

Thanks guys, I will give them a week to reply on their own, then I will call them. the only problem is I do not have another copy of the 1198. I made a copy for my files when I first sent my taxes, but in my pissed off state for have to submit the T1 adjustment, I forgot to make an additional copy. I suppose I could always ask SISIP to send another one, but that might take longer than just waiting out the reassessment.

Rex,

sorry to hear that.

Now if I was in your shoes, I would not wait for the resolution center to contact you,
I don't trust any of the agents there that said that they will contact you, what if they screw that up, just more delays.

What you can do is first thing Monday you can call the resolution center yourself,
when they answer tell them you are a Veteran, and that this agent said that because of ongoing problems with completing my reassessment
that someone from the resolution will contact you, so ask them if they can assist you, I'm sure they will.

These individuals at the resolution center don't fool around, if you contact them on Monday,
they will ask you to fax your return and your 1198 to them, a very short time later 5 to 10 business days,
all will be completed.

Here is their contact number if you choose to go this route......1 877 440 4948

I called CRA yesterday, and was told that their system showed that they had to wait until Oct 20th before they could even send an inquiry. WTF!!! I explained that I had done everything required of me. I had sent all the appropriate paperwork before the deadline, and that the reassessment was due to an error by CRA. then once I sent in the T1 adjustment, I was told that the normal timeline is 8 weeks. Well that was 15 weeks ago, and waiting an additional 5 weeks before they will even look into it, is unacceptable. The CRA contact agreed with me, and sent ina request to the resolution centre to contact me, but said, they have 8 weeks to look into a case. I swear to God, the way my luck is going lately, if I get a refund, I may get it in time to pay off next years taxes.

Soddie all medical supplies have a shelf life and of course declining health is also a factor. That said you should contact the NCCN and find out the shelf life of your stair lift.

Now if the shelf life has expired submit your receipt to VAC Reimbursement Centre.

If VAC/Blue Cross declines to reimburse you can claim the lift on your yearly taxes. Everyone is entitled to claim $11,500 a year in medical expenses. All you need is a prescription from your doctor/specialist and the receipt for claiming the lift on your tax return.
