I think anyone who had their contracts renewed well before their current ones had expired, shouldn't have the choice to step down. The new contracts should be null and void. Harper renewed people, who still had over a year on their existing contracts. So those contracts had nothing to do with ensuring qualified people filled those seats. Maybe Trudeau should pass a law, prohibiting contract renewals before 30 days prior to the expiration.

What a crooked scum bag harper was right to the end costing us millions by giving his flunkeys long term contracts just before election. BS

"The Liberals say they want to put a new appointment process in place. The letter refers to an "open, merit-based appointments system for Governor in Council appointees with greater access to all Canadians."
It says anyone who wants to re-apply for their job can do so. It's not clear what happens to those who opt not to step aside voluntarily.
