So can anyone dumb it down for a old cook. I received a lump sum of 175000.00 60% what would the equate into the new budget changes?

If my math is correct in 2017 when they increase it to 360,000 sixty percent of that would be 216,000 so you would get another 41,000.

But who knows when this will actually come out. Maybe next year?

Actually the ABC campaign did work. The District Office's that were closed are opening again. That was the whole ABC campaign.

Sparrow it is my understanding that one either gets ELB or LTD. Not both. That is why I was wondering if anyone on friendly terms with Hehr could ask him on facebook if the DND was going to match VAC and raise LTD to 90%.

There are a lot of details that have not been revealed yet but the budget link posted by 6608 did say 2016/2017 so these payments should be effective April 1, to answer your question ColdWar. As for the top up's for you it should be around 15%, roughly.

I know Hehr isn't big on details and I never read anything from him today so maybe he could fill us in with some details???

well its my belief that the ABC campaign was about more than just reopening offices even thoe it started over the closure of one particular office .it it ended up cost to cost and was really became about ALL vets issues and the main issues were generally localized . in Sydney im sure it was about the offices . in Fredericton /oromocto it was completely about other issues moastly the buyout but hardly at all about the offices if at all .

so I guess a success /failure determination would come down to why YOU were voting ABC .

when I got my ZERO sum letter from ELB it indicated that SISIP was the FIRST payer . it said with my SISIP payments taken into account my benefit was reduced to zero if your financial situation changes yada yada yada . it went something like that if I recall.

thing is I believe without a doubt those on both SISIP and ELB would receive the increase to ELB from ELB if SISIP is not increased or that increase is delayed .

Taking into effect the NVC will get a BOOST .................. Does anyone know if The Disability Charts from 5 - 100 % under The Old Pension Act will get a Boost ?

Because a lot of us on here are Connected to the Old Pension Act in some way .

Anyone with some input or Knowledge on this Subject , it would be appreciated

I believe that the 2% cap only applied to ELB, and maybe PIA. It's been so long since we've had an increase of any size, it's hard to remember. But PA would often see COLA amounts above 2%, often even higher than CF pension and CPP indexing. The full list of what the COLA was on the PA each year, at least back to 2003, can be found on the VAC website.

So is it just me or anybody else find it odd, that the MVA has not put anything about his budget/Veterans on his FB page all day. Lots of other crap on there, ie , families, etc; I just don't get a warm and fuzzy.. VVV...

Johnny could it be that he has no clue about what was brought forward ?

You see him day in and day out talking about everything but Veterans issues ?

It's easy to simply delegate things done , but it's work learning things and by the looks of his Facebook and what he has said publicly thus far , I think he prefers to let others answer questions on Veterans issues.

Do I think his the right person for the job ?

What I have heard an seen from him thus far , absolutely not !

Some info I got today:

The increase to $360,000 for 1 April 2017 is from a federal court case from late 2014 that states the National Average for pain and suffering is $357,000. So the Libs are recognizing the national average and increased it to $360,000.

There is still some twists to this increase that might benefit the veterans that received the NVC lump sum going back to 2006.

Depending on which year a veteran got their lump sum award their, roughly, 15% increase might add COLA to their increase payment. So if your lump sum was in 2006 VAC might include 11 years of COLA. We have to watch the wording on this.
