You have a good point there mfors. Could we all imagine what it would be like had we been taxed on our dva payments? Ssshhhh we have to keep it quiet or the GOC may changed their minds about it being tax free..
Also, our newest register Pierre Poutine...love that name with all sincerety....lol

Re: FRINGE BENEFITS: CLASS ACTIONS FOR MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN CANADA
On your income tax return there is a line that states "Other Deductions". This is where you put the lawyer fee amount and it is subtracted from your gross income.
So we all know money will be held back by SISIP. It is standard tax procedure. When you get your tax slip (T4A I believe) for 2013 the income tax block will have that amount of held back money.
So seeing as your taxable income is reduced because of the lawyer fees it means you paid too much income tax for that year and you will get it back on your tax return.
So to keep it simple the lower your taxable income for 2013 the bigger the tax return in 2014 because SISIP held back extra money from your retro payment.

Yes grosgig, it is my understanding they will be tax deductible. Agree, lets all move forward together.

Lawyers fees are they tax deductible after ??? ))) so if you pay a lot of lawyers fees you will be able to deductible a lot too...............it will be another income in our pockets next year.
it's been a long time i had not write a post, but i had readd all the posts. Maybe it's time to look in front of us not behind, life will be lot happier.

Re: FRINGE BENEFITS: CLASS ACTIONS FOR MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN CANADA
Qc and Fed income total 48,2 percent for 2012-2013
So lets say 200 000$
Less 17.7 percent fees. - 35 400$
------------
This is the amount that 164 600$
Will be taxed because
Lawyers fees are deductible
164 600$
Less 48,2 percent tax. - 79 337$
--------------
Total left after fees, 85 262$
Prov and Fed tax in Qc.
So 85 262$ out of 200 000$ is 42 percent of the total earnings,
So in other words, 58 percent is gone.
I'm not complaining here but this is the result!
And even if the amounts are taken out of multiple years it wont be much better in the final, that is life, so this is an example of percentage.

Re: FRINGE BENEFITS: CLASS ACTIONS FOR MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN CANADA
60 percent may be the high end, but probably within the scope, when you take into account any tax penalties that may be owed, or if taken on this year, added to any other income they may be making, the taxes will be far greater than what will be granted with the 3.27% top up.

Re: FRINGE BENEFITS: CLASS ACTIONS FOR MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN CANADA
Mr guest, how is it possible that you are loosing 60%, if that includes taxes and all things, I think your a little hight there. If so wellcomes to canada and are rights and liberties.

Re: FRINGE BENEFITS: CLASS ACTIONS FOR MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN CANADA
24 month retro vets not going to lose 60% like mr guest says... so i would assume mr guest been clawed back lot longer

Re: FRINGE BENEFITS: CLASS ACTIONS FOR MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN CANADA
