Re: Rates of pay
I got some favorable news of re-instatement last month. Amen, one less thing to worry about. This whole ride has been such an emotional roller coaster. I just wish MC had given us more correspondence; would had made life a whole lot easier and less stressful. None the less, I still say thanks to Peter and team, for their amazing tenacity.

Yes, Big Rex , I feel for the guys who had no choice but to work because who would have thought this case was winnable, I never thought we would be where we are now. That's why the lawyers should have negioated some sort of amnesty for the period of the lawsuit so nobody gets penalized just for trying to work to live

Re: Rates of pay
It's consumer pricing psychology on the go here.
Gas goes up 20c and comes down 10c and we're happy cuz we're saving 10c, although in reality, we are out an additional 10c.
The lawyers ask for 7.5% + 7.5% + 2.83% etc, and then the Judge comes back with 10% (or whatever) and we're happy, and the lawyers are laughing because they would have accepted 5%, but we didn't fight.

Re: Rates of pay
Your assessment of the zero sum getting their cheques first is obviously limited to those that have already been favorably adjudicated. I know of at least one class member, who even though he was a zero sum client and has not worked a day since his release in 2007, has already been told by SISIP that he should be able to work based on their assessments of his conditions and denied reinstatement. I can only see things getting ugly. I could probably ask for reinstatement, but based on those couple years of work before the pain meds stopped working, I would probably no get accepted.

Re: Rates of pay
Thanks OldVet , this is what I was told by my cm at sisip before everyone started calling them. Sisip will do all the income tax and legal fee calculations, then sent it to the law firm which will sent out the calculation sheet plus the cheque. Sisip has a plan in place and the first to be calculated will be the zero sums in the computer because they are the easy ones. All they have to do is do a reversal of the vac clawback in the computer to get the amount then do the simple calculations. So I hope she was right but it makes sense , manulife is a huge company, have had months of notice, so they have a plan in place. They have an official line they give people who call and a plan they keep internal

Re: Rates of pay
Greatfoot,
Your right but that had to be argued in the court and so many just wanted it done we could not get this delayed to allow better arguments and understanding let alone being able to argue a legal point on time the fees get cut off at.
We are stuck now with what the Judge says. If we are relly really lucky he will delay the settlement to hear better arguments but I doubt it. Too many sung the praises of the deal cause they did not understand the deal.

Re: Rates of pay
Knock off the 'total settlement' nonsense, the lawyers' claim to money should have ended ended May 1, 2012. They should have no claim on future monies. They should only be able to access the retro.

Re: Rates of pay
Yes Im thinking that is a good number. Just needed to be covered by GOC and that takes courage and conviction to doing the right thing.
